  • Publication number: 20190384199
Abstract: A toner composition includes low and high molecular weight polyester resins. It also includes a release agent, such as a polyolefin wax, and a tri-block copolymer having a structure of the form A-b-B-b-A, wherein A is a hard block and B is a soft block. The hard block is styrene, while the soft block is butadiene/butylene. Upon partial hydrogenation, the copolymer provides improved dispersion, mobility control, and domain size of the release agent.

  • Patent number: 9535353
Abstract: A developer mix formulation having tribocharge uniformity across varying temperature and humidity conditions is provided. A developer mix used in a dual component development (DCD) system is a mixture of toner particles and magnetic carrier particles. Tribocharge uniformity is achieved in the developer mix by using magnetic carrier particles having surface additives on its surface. Surface additives include but are not limited to silica, titania and alumina.

  • Patent number: 9523932
Abstract: A method for providing a developer mix having tribocharge uniformity across varying temperature and humidity conditions is provided. A developer mix used in a dual component development (DCD) system typically is a mixture of toner particles and magnetic carrier particles. Tribocharge uniformity is achieved in the developer mix by performing the step of treating the surface of the magnetic carrier particles with surface additives before the magnetic carrier particles are mixed with the toner particles. Surface additives include but are not limited to silica, titania and alumina.

  • Publication number: 20150370186
Abstract: Wax dispersion and domain size can be effectively controlled by incorporating a small amount of a hybrid resin binder and or a wax compatibilizer in the toner formulation. Such toners show smaller wax domain size and improved fusing offset window, fusegrade and filming resistance, and therefore improved print quality and reliability. The hybrid resin contains a polyester unit via condensation reaction and a vinyl-based polymer unit via radical polymerization. The hybrid resin is highly compatible with the polyester resin binder, and at same time, can well accommodate low molecular weight polyolefin waxes in the vinyl polymer entity enabling a desirable smaller wax domain size. The wax compatibilizer is a thermoplastic styrenic block copolymer.

  • Patent number: 6511709
Abstract: A process for dip coating, particularly vertical dip coating, the topcoat layer onto fuser belts used in electrophotographic processes is disclosed. In this process, a C1-C4 alkanol, such as isopropyl alcohol is added to the solvent system for the fluorocarbon topcoat layer. The use of alcohols in this way provides an efficient and effective method and a topcoat layer which is smooth, uniform and has a good finish.

  • Patent number: 6331372
Abstract: Toner particulates include a first resin comprising a cross-linked copolymer; a second resin comprising a non-cross-linked copolymer; and a wax comprising an ethylene propylene copolymer. The cross-linked copolymer is a copolymer other than the wax comprising an ethylene propylene copolymer and the non-cross-linked polymer is a copolymer other than the wax comprising an ethylene propylene copolymer.

  • Patent number: 5798199
Abstract: A high speed toner comprising a body of hybrid resin which is about 92 percent by weight polyester and 8 percent by weight polystyrene. Blended in the resin is a charge control agent, a pigment, and about 10 percent by weight of the toner of fumed aluminum oxide. Where the pigments are color-subtractive the charge control agent is a copolymer of styrene and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid. The toner is mixed with a carrier of ferrite particles having a thick silicone coating to remain through the long life of the toner.
