  • Publication number: 20140316813
Abstract: A patient-centered Healthcare Toolkit includes a set of identification (ID) devices to uniquely identify each of a set of patients, a set of electronic tablets having wireless connectivity configured to read the set of ID devices, at least one of the set of electronic tablets being a patient intake tablet to collect patient self-knowledge of their problems. A set of medical measurement devices with wireless connectivity operate with one of the set of electronic tablets to gather at least one of physiologic, radiographic and bio-chemical data, and a local manager station to wirelessly connect with the set of electronic tablets and including an enterprise management system that uses a physician “mental model” of exam flow to create an patient-centered encounter form and any test requisitions for each of the medical measurement devices, and provides correct and consistent guidelines to operators of each of the set of electronic tablets.

  • Patent number: 7966269
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for an intelligent human-machine interface comprising an interface shell, system agents, function agents, a dynamic documentation system, and a layering architecture. The system agents include dynamic, knowledge-based software object sub-agents that model and track the state of a work area. The function agents model, track, and facilitate work area functions. The interface shell provides a hardware and software interface between the system agents and the function agents. The layering architecture comprises a tracking layer, an equipment and supply management layer, a coordination layer, and a situational awareness layer, and an oversight layer. The oversight layer combines information from the situational awareness layer with process rule sets contained in the function agents to determine if processes are being performed correctly.

  • Patent number: 5788688
Abstract: A surgeon's command and control (SCC) system includes an independent personal computer based electronic control unit that unifies various pieces of equipment currently found in an endoscopic surgical suite into a surgeon centered system. The system utilizes programmed software which simplifies equipment management tasks that currently encumber the surgeon and operating room staff. It enhances safety, and increases the utility of the individual pieces of equipment. The SCC hardware centers around a personal computer communicating with a sterile control panel located at the surgeon's operating station. A frame store card serves as an electronic pallet to compose and superimpose graphic images onto a surgical image transmitted from an endoscopic camera for display on a heads-up display (HUD) monitor at the surgical operating station.
