  • Publication number: 20090221056
Abstract: Methods to produce cells that remain viable at ambient or non-refrigerated temperatures, or which can be stored in a dry state are described. In particular, cell preservation is for long term storage of cells, such as mammalian cells, at ambient or non-refrigerated temperatures, while retaining cell viability. Also provided are sensor cells that can detect target particles, biological agents or other materials and which remain viable at ambient or non-refrigerated temperatures, or which can be stored in a dry state.

  • Patent number: 7422860
Abstract: The invention described herein provides methods for the detection of soluble antigens. In particular, the methods provide for the detection of soluble proteins and chemicals. In addition, the invention provides methods of detecting a nucleic acid sequence in a sample. Also described is an emittor cell comprising an Fc receptor and an emittor molecule for the detection of a target particle in a sample wherein the target particle to be detected is bound by one or more antibodies. Also provided is an optoelectronic sensor device for detecting a target particle in a plurality of samples.

  • Patent number: 6640688
Abstract: An actuator assembly comprising at least one prime mover, a shaft having a first end and a second end, the shaft being operatively connected to the prime mover for reciprocal movement, a frame, the shaft being reciprocably movable in the frame, and linkage attached to the frame and operatively connected to the shaft, the linkage being movable between a first position and a second position in response to reciprocal movement of the shaft and a selectively engageable stroke-limiting assembly operatively connected to the shaft for controlling movement of the shaft, either by preventing any movement of the shaft or limiting its stroke a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 6054114
Abstract: Novel organometallic compounds for binding amyloid are described. Methods using such compounds for determining by imaging the localization or quantification of amyloid fibrils in a mammal, for diagnosing the degree of progression of Alzheimer's disease in a mammal, for monitoring the response to a therapy in a mammal having Alzheimer's disease, for identifying an agent useful for treating Alzheimer's disease, for treating Alzheimer's disease, and for detecting the presence of the infectious form of the prion protein, are also described.

  • Patent number: 5519663
Abstract: In a preservation system for a volatile memory associated with a nonvolatile memory, an energy storage portion accumulates energy while power is provided normally. When a power outage occurs, the stored energy is supplied to the volatile memory. Enough backup power is stored to accommodate the vast majority of unintentional interruptions of power. Eventually, after removal of external power, when the backup power decreases to a predetermined amount, data in the volatile memory is transferred to the nonvolatile memory. The preferred use for the preservation system is in an environment with vibration and/or power switching transients that affect the supply of power, such as an aircraft.
