  • Patent number: 5996546
Abstract: A cover for an outboard motor is provided to protect an operator from a flywheel. The cover is disposed under the cowl of the outboard motor. The cover is made of a generally rigid material, such as plastic, with first and second sheets being associated together to form conduits with openings extending therefrom. In one particular embodiment, one of the openings is shaped to receive an inlet of a compressor and this provides a positioning aid in attaching the cover to the engine. This device eliminates the need for flexible hoses and accomplishes two tasks with one component. It provides air conduits for the air passing through the cover and it provides a generally rigid means for locating the proper location of the cover.

  • Patent number: 5950596
Abstract: A cylinder wall fuel injector is provided with a deflector that causes a fuel spray to be deflected from its normal path directly across a cylinder and perpendicular to a centerline of the cylinder. The deflector is positioned between an opening in the tip of the fuel injector and the cylinder into which the fuel is sprayed. The deflector causes the fuel to be redirected away from a direct line toward the exhaust port of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4834291
Abstract: A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine includes a body having fuel and air inlet ports and fuel and air outlet ports located within the combustion chamber of the engine cylinder. A pair of valves open and close the air and fuel outlet ports and are sequenced so that fuel is introduced into a flow of air and the flow of air continues briefly after the fuel flow has been discontinued.
