    Abstract: There is described a method of producing activated carbon using the phosphoric acid activation process. The starting material employed is a young carbonaceous vegetable product which is comminuted to form particles having a very small particle size. The particles are then treated with phosphoric acid and carbonized to produce activated carbon. The starting materials are selected to have a concentration of natural binding agent greater than 30% by weight.
