    Abstract: A high explosive device with improved fragmentation is provided with a wall of wrought steel having a ferrite-martensite microstructure. This is obtained by heating in a temperature range in the ferrite-austenite region of the iron-carbon phase diagram until equilibrium is established between the two phases, and then quenching to retain the ferrite and transform the austenitic phase to martensite for said microstructure.
