  • Patent number: 4690073
Abstract: A locking mechanism selectively engages and isolates an external handle of a vault door from both a bolt and a pair of locks which control the condition of the door. The mechanism includes a slide vertically movable between first and second positions in response to the conditions of the locks. The slide incorporates a pin at its lower end. The handle is mounted on a shaft that extends through the door and terminates on the interior side in a hub. A housing mounted for rotation on the interior side of the door incorporates an inverter "T-shaped" guide slot which accepts the pin. When the pin is in the vertical leg of the "T-shaped" slot, rotation of the housing is inhibited. A probe is mounted for movement on the housing and is biased toward the hub. The probe is attached to a yoke which engages the pin such that when the pin is in the first position the probe is retracted from the hub.

  • Patent number: 4615280
Abstract: A new structure is provided comprising a cast body having enclosure, pedestal and anchor sections cast integrally of high steel fiber reinforced concrete. The enclosure section has walls forming a primary security compartment. A door movable between open and closed positions is mounted on the cast body. The door also is cast of high steel fiber reinforced concrete. The door and walls of the cast concrete body have thicknesses of at least 3 inches and resist torch and tool attack measures for at least 15 minutes. High security is provided for paper notes and valuable documents present in the primary security compartment either deposited into said primary security compartment or to be dispensed from said compartment.

  • Patent number: 4593627
Abstract: A metal encased concrete barrier for the walls of the bodies and doors of safes or vaults having new formulations of particular metal fiber and ceramic aggregate reinforcing constituents is described which provides enhanced burglary attack resistance for money safes or vaults. New procedures also are described for casting the Portland Cement, steel fiber, and fractured fused alumina aggregate phases or constituents of the protective barrier, copper members being cooperatively integrated in the barrier.

  • Patent number: 4559881
Abstract: A new castable steel fiber reinforced concrete composition is described composed of Portland Cement, fly ash, fine aggregate, gravel or crushed stone, water, high range superplasticizing water-reducing admixture, and steel fibers. The concrete may be mixed in conventional mixers and cast in open top molds to form modular panels for use in the construction of security vaults. The cast panels have outstanding engineering properties resistant to burglarious attack measures such that multi-paneled vault walls resist burglarious attack as outlined in Underwriters Laboratories Standard No. 608 in thicknesses of 8 inches for 1 hour and 11 inches for 2 hours. New casting procedures for the concrete and new vault construction procedures using modular panels cast from the concrete also are described.
