Patent number: 11657498Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for a lighting controller for sea lice detection. In some implementations, fish are contained within an elliptical tank filled with water. An imaging station located on the elliptical tank is used to capture an image of a fish from which image analysis can be performed to detect sea lice or other skin features, including lesions, on the fish. Pairs of imaging assemblies coordinate pulsing light of at least a first and a second color and capturing images of the fish while the fish is illuminated by at least the first and the second color. By using the captured images with different color light, computers can detect features on the body of a fish including sea lice, skin lesions, shortened operculum or other physical deformities and skin features. Detection results can aid in mitigation techniques or be stored for analytics.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2020Date of Patent: May 23, 2023Assignee: X Development LLCInventors: Christopher Thornton, Matthew Messana, James Daniel Haley, Shane Washburn

Patent number: 11358098Abstract: A method for ship ballasting includes receiving, at a carbon negative energy storage system, input comprising calcium oxide and water and reacting, within a reaction chamber of the carbon negative energy storage system, the calcium oxide and water to release energy and generate calcium hydroxide. The method includes directing, by the carbon negative energy storage system, the released energy to a requesting end user and providing, by the carbon negative energy storage system, the calcium hydroxide to a marine vessel ballasting system. The method includes releasing a mixture of the calcium hydroxide and ballast water from the marine vessel ballasting system into the ocean to sequester atmospheric CO2.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: June 14, 2022Assignee: X Development LLCInventors: William Raymond Regan, Thomas Peter Hunt, Thomas Gerard Schuhmann, Jr., Benjamin Lundquist Saenz, Joel Fraser Atwater, James Daniel Haley, Kevin Forsythe Smith, Charles Nordstrom

Patent number: 11295252Abstract: A system for tracking a count of a product in a distribution unit is provided. The distribution unit may have a front portion where the product is presented for dispensing. The system may include a track, a product positioner, a sensor, and a processor. The track may be configured for holding the product in the distribution unit. The product positioner may interact with the track for pushing the product to the front of the distribution unit. The sensor may determine a position of the product positioner. The processor may calculate a product count in response to the position.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2018Date of Patent: April 5, 2022Assignee: Spot You More, Inc.Inventors: Joel R. Setchell, James Daniel Haley, Nathaniel Welch, Edward Beistle

Patent number: 11247765Abstract: A method for energy generation includes receiving, at a carbon negative energy generation system, input including calcium oxide and water and reacting, within a reaction chamber of the carbon negative energy generation system, the calcium oxide and water to release energy and generate calcium hydroxide. The method further includes directing, by the carbon negative energy generation system, the released energy to facilitate propulsion or onboard electricity generation and dispensing, by the carbon negative energy generation system, the calcium hydroxide into the ocean to sequester atmospheric CO2.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: X Development LLCInventors: William Raymond Regan, Thomas Peter Hunt, Thomas Gerard Schuhmann, Jr., Benjamin Lundquist Saenz, Joel Fraser Atwater, James Daniel Haley, Kevin Forsythe Smith, Charles Nordstrom
