  • Patent number: 9082187
Abstract: A system is operable to correct for distortion in an image. The distortion in the image was caused by rotation of an image capture device while the image was being captured by the image capture device. The system includes an orientation sensor configured to perform a first measurement concurrently with the image capture device capturing the image. The system further includes a rotation module configured to generate, based on the first measurement, a rotation matrix. The system further includes a correction module configured to, based on the rotation matrix, correct the distortion in the image caused by the rotation of the image capture device. The system further includes a restoration module configured to selectively reverse the correction of the distortion in the image based on (i) the image as corrected by the correction module and (ii) the rotation matrix.

  • Patent number: 8743219
Abstract: An apparatus includes an image capture sensor, a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a feedback module, a rotation module, a correction module, and a restoration module. The image capture sensor captures an image. The gyroscope makes a first measurement that indicates an orientation of the image capture sensor relative to a reference orientation. The accelerometer makes a second measurement. The feedback module generates a corrected first measurement to correct for drift of the gyroscope in response to the second measurement. The rotation module generates a rotation matrix based on the corrected first measurement. The correction module corrects the image captured by the image capture sensor based on the rotation matrix. The restoration module selectively restores the image captured by the image capture sensor based on (i) the image as corrected by the correction module and (ii) the rotation matrix.

  • Patent number: 7257440
Abstract: This invention relates to an external defibrillator whose language of operation can be easily changed when the defibrillator is deployed for use. Defibrillators include, manual defibrillators, automatic or semi-automatic external defibrillators (“AEDs”) and defibrillator trainers. In one embodiment, the invention provides a way to change the language in which the defibrillator delivers instructions to a user. Defibrillators of this invention would contain multiple languages in their memory. During the set-up of the defibrillator some or all of the languages could be designated as a language in which a prompt will be offered. Additionally, during set-up, one language will be designated as the default language. Once the defibrillator is deployed for use in an emergency, the operator will indicate a language preference for the defibrillator operating instructions.
