  • Publication number: 20070234107
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product are provided for increasing the level of protection for data in a redundant storage system. A non-catastrophic error in a component in a redundant storage system is detected. Then, data exposed by the non-catastrophic error is identified and unallocated space in a storage device which is not exposed to the non-catastrophic error is reserved. The exposed data is then migrated from its original storage space to the reserved storage space. Even though it may take a number of hours for recovery of the system to be completed, data is less exposed to the risk of a second failure occurring before the first can be repaired.

  • Publication number: 20060112308
Abstract: Techniques are provided for selecting status data. Redundant views are obtained from multiple synchronous redundant devices. It is determined that the redundant views from the multiple synchronous redundant devices are conflicting. A redundant view score is calculated for each of the redundant views based on one or more characteristics from each of at least two characteristic types, wherein the characteristics are associated with weighted scores. One of the redundant views is selected based on the calculated redundant view score for each of the redundant views.

  • Publication number: 20050149643
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for querying a plurality of adaptors in a system. A request is received to determine connection information for the adaptors in the system. A master task spawns a plurality of tasks to query the adaptors. Each spawned task updates adaptor information with information gathered from querying the adaptor. If no tasks are available to query at least one adaptor that has not been queried, then the master task queries one adaptor and updates the adaptor information with information gathered by querying the adaptor.
