Patent number: 10027817Abstract: A system, method, and desktop mobile information provider for unifying mobile devices with provisioned endpoints. In one illustrative embodiment, a user's mobile device can receive a mobile event. The mobile device can then transmit the mobile event to either a private branch exchange directly or through a unified communications server. The mobile event can then be displayed to the user's private branch exchange provisioned endpoint, and in one embodiment, the provisioned endpoint being a private branch exchange desk phone. The mobile event can be displayed to the provisioned endpoint using text, light emitting diodes for message waiting indicators, audible tones, or graphics if the desk phone supports it. The provisioned endpoint can provide a response mechanism when a mobile event is received. Often, the mobile event can be a live call whereby the user at their provisioned endpoint can respond to the call without the use of the mobile device.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2014Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: Mitel Networks CorporationInventors: James Dean Midtun, Arthur Louis Gaetano, Jr.

Publication number: 20140047019Abstract: A method is described for managing communication alerts on multiple remote devices that are associated with a common user and in contemporaneous communication with a server on a communication network. The method can include designating on the server one of the plurality of remote devices as being in an active state, and sending a communication from the server to the remote devices. Only the remote device designated as in the active state displays an alert announcing the incoming communication.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2012Publication date: February 13, 2014Inventor: James Dean Midtun

Publication number: 20120264480Abstract: Generally described, the present disclosure relates to an electronic device having limited memory. More specifically, the disclosure relates to intelligent data sharing for advanced features on mobile platforms. In one illustrative embodiment, a mobile device provides a platform having native services that use shared data. The data can be received from a central server. In turn, the data can be separated on the mobile device into categories. For a number of contacts, these categories can include, but are not limited to, usage, total count, grouping, location and organization. After the data is placed within the categories, the data can be shared between the services for applications. These applications can include, but are not limited to, voice dialing, Bluetoothâ„¢ dialing, searching and dialing. The data can be prioritized depending on the categories. Through prioritization, data can be removed when memory is low and new data is received.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2011Publication date: October 18, 2012Inventors: Suriyaprakash Soundrapandian, James Dean Midtun

Publication number: 20120233307Abstract: The present application relates to unified communications, and more specifically, to resolving status conflicts within unified communications to provide integrated services. According to one illustrative embodiment, a set of status triggers are managed through a unified communication server. The triggers can be received from client devices such as global positioning systems, computers, presence detectors, calendar applications, etc. When received, the unified communication server can associate each of the triggers with a priority along with a duration. The unified communication server can set a status for the user according to the duration of the trigger event having the highest priority or until another trigger event having a higher priority is received. Based on the status of the user, communication services can be updated or kept.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2011Publication date: September 13, 2012Inventors: Suriyaprakash Soundrapandian, James Dean Midtun

Patent number: 7724671Abstract: An architecture for resource management in a telecommunications network includes two or more nodes connected over a logically direct path in a peer-to-peer manner. At each node, local events typically trigger the node to transmit a broadcast to every other node. Broadcast information comprises a status of the local node's resources. Remote nodes receive the local node's broadcast and independently transmit their own broadcasts with similar information. Each node stores the received broadcast information in a local storage for future retrieval. When a session is desired with a remote node, the local node simply retrieves the remote node's resource status information from its local storage and determines if a session can occur. In this manner, every node of the network is aware of the nodal addresses of the other nodes, remote node's resource status, and can quickly retrieve, from its own local storage, the availability of the remote node's resources.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2003Date of Patent: May 25, 2010Assignee: Intel-Tel, Inc.Inventors: James Dean Midtun, Ian Alexander O'Neil
