  • Publication number: 20240039434
Abstract: A dual motor system includes a first motor providing a lower speed range and a second motor providing a higher speed range, wherein the motors are coaxially arranged and aligned on and drive a common shaft, and a motor control system controlling the speed of the first motor and engaging the second motor as needed. The first motor provides a lower two-thirds of a full speed range, and the second motor provides the upper one-third in the form of one or more discrete fixed speeds. The system may also include a flow control system for automatically controlling the speed of the motors for particular applications, such as flow control in a pool.

The first motor is a variable speed motor providing a lower two-thirds of a full speed range, and the second motor is an induction motor providing the upper one-third in the form of one or more discrete fixed speeds. The system may include a transformer including a first winding tap which provides a first higher speed, and a second winding tap which provides a second higher speed. The system may also include a flow control system for automatically controlling the speed of the motors for particular applications, such as flow control in a pool.

  • Patent number: 8283824
Abstract: A fluid deflecting baffle is provided for use on an electric motor to be used in an environment where liquid may otherwise pass through a vent opening in an endshield of the motor. The baffle is secureable to the endshield and extends in a partial covering relationship with the vent opening. The baffle includes a vent passage therethrough and has at least one liquid flow obstructing louver that extends across the vent opening to deflect liquid away from the vent passage while allowing venting air to flow through the vent passage. The louver includes a generally flat liquid deflection surface that is disposed at an oblique angle relative to the axis of the motor and at least partially faces a venting direction of incoming air and fluid.

  • Patent number: 6638344
Abstract: A filter vent system and method for separating entrained airborne particulate matter from the conveying fluid is disclosed, particularly as it relates to filling a storage vessel. The filter system employs a simplified, yet more efficient filter cleaning arrangement, in which the entire clean air plenum on the downstream side of a filter array of one or more filter units is periodically pulsed with a large burst or pulse of relatively high pressure air from a single source which rapidly raises the plenum pressure to, in turn, produce a temporary pulsed flow reversal in the filter units which blasts through the filter pores to displace particulate matter collected on the upstream side of all of the filter units alike thereby cleaning or re-generating the filter surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4968333
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning ducts for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in a building includes a portable primary filter unit and a portable blower and final filter unit. The contaminant material is first loosened in the ducts and is entrained in a stream of air produced by the blower and final filter unit at a vacuum of approximately 4,000 cfm. The air entrained contaminants are passed upwardly through cylindrical filter elements in the primary filter unit where over 90% of the contaminants are removed. The partially contaminated stream is then directed into a fan chamber in the blower and final filter unit, and is then directed through a high efficiency particulate air filter where the remaining contaminants are removed before being discharged into the interior of the building.

  • Patent number: 4292771
Abstract: A split mullion window frame has opposite frame members adapted for either attaching the window frame to adjacent building structure or to an adjacent such frame. Both frame members employ a nailing flange for attaching opposite sides of the frame to a building structure. According to the invention, outer portions of the nailing flanges are removable and the inner portion of one of the nailing flanges is offset so that, having removed the outer portions, the window frame members can be nested together with their respective inner flange portions overlapping. A second set of flanges is provided. They parallel the nailing flanges but are the same length as the inner portions of the nailing flanges. The second flanges are also mutually offset so as to overlap when the frame members are nested together, thereby forming a rigid interconnection between adjacent frame members of two windows mounted side-by-side without use of a separate mullion strip.
