In one example, a method includes applying a lens tip assembly of a solid immersion lens to a device under test, focusing an image of the device under test on an optical probe, applying a first thermally controlled fluid to a first heat exchanger thermally coupled to the objective near the lens tip assembly, applying a second thermally controlled fluid to a second heat exchanger thermally coupled to the objective farther from the lens tip assembly than the first heat exchanger, to independently alternately heat or cool a portion of the objective different from that of the first heat exchanger.
