Patent number: 6485348Abstract: A combination lollipop holder and stand having a unitary body forming a character and an elongate torso providing a handle portion, two arm parts outstanding laterally from an upper end of the torso, providing a finger guarding portion and a leg part diverging from opposite sides of a lower end of the body to a flat, foot part, providing a base portion. A bore extends from a neck region between the arms parts vertically into the torso and is provided with a constriction for gripping an inserted lollipop stick which forms an extended neck and consumable head of the character. Engagement of the arm and leg parts above and below a hand enclosing the torso prevents inadvertent dislodgement of the lollipop from the hand. The foot supports the body in stable position standing on a flat surface with the lollipop remote from the surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2001Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Inventor: James Diresta

Patent number: 6109998Abstract: A squeezable plaything which resembles an animal-like or humanoid figure having appendages projecting therefrom. The plaything includes a hollow core molded of resilient plastic material shaped to resemble the figure and provided with an orifice which renders the core collapsible. Enveloping the core and generally conforming to the figure and its appendages is an outer shell formed of flexible transparent plastic film material. Injected into the core through the orifice is a charge of oil which when the plaything is squeezed and deformed, oil and air are then discharged through the orifice into confined spaces between the shell and the core. And when the plaything is released to recover its shape, the oil and air are then sucked back through the orifice into the core. These actions generate squishing sounds, as if the figure were walking on soft mud.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Inventors: Joseph G. DiResta, James DiResta

Patent number: 5941753Abstract: A toplet assembly of inner, intermediate and outer toplets has releasable catches on respective housings of the outer and intermediate toplets which secure the intermediate and inner toplets to the outer and intermediate toplets, respectively, nested one inside another, on a common spin axis, for separation during spinning by floor impact, when dropped. The outer and intermediate toplets have respective pivot pins mounted in respective housings for limited axial sliding movement.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1998Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: 4 Kidz Inc.Inventor: James Diresta

Patent number: 5933970Abstract: A powered hand drawing device in which a pen is mounted in a barrel casing and operably connected through an eccentric to an electrc motor which rotates a writing tip to describe a related figure on a writing surface. The pen is removably mounted in a tubular holder carried by a fulcrum formed by a swivel joint comprising a ball having a diametrical, pen holder receiving bore and a pair of rings secured together entrapping the ball in swivelling relation between them. The barrel wall has two, opposed longitudinal slots and fingerpieces extend from one of the rings through respective slots thereby mounting the the fulcrum for manual sliding adjustment along the barrel (and pen holder) to alter an amplitude of the orbital movement of the writing tip and the figures described.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: 4Kidz, Inc.Inventor: James Diresta

Patent number: 5921840Abstract: A squeezable ball-like toy having an outer spheroidal casing molded of resilient synthetic plastic material whose exposed surface is contoured to render the casing suggestive of an organic object, such as a humanoid head or human organ. Distributed about the casing are ports creating orifices of varying size and shape. Enclosed within the casing is a core of elastomer material having a distinctive color, the core normally blocking the ports. When the ball-like toy is squeezed and deformed by a player, streams of elastomer integral with the core are then extruded from the orifices to simulate discharges from the organic object. When the toy is released to resume its normal shape, the streams are retracted into the core whereby the toy is then throwable.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1998Date of Patent: July 13, 1999Inventors: Joseph G. Diresta, James Diresta

Patent number: 5846116Abstract: A squeezable plaything which simulates a miniature dinosaur figure and when squeezed and released, then generates gurgling sounds suggestive of dinosaur activity. The plaything comprises a generally spherical outer shell formed of flexible transparent plastic film encasing a hollow inner core having an orifice which renders it collapsible. The hollow core is molded of resilient plastic material contoured to simulate a dinosaur in a fetal position assuming an overall ovoid form that fits into the spherical shell. Injected into the air-filled core through the orifice is a charge of oil. When the ball is squeezed and deformed, oil and air are then discharged from the orifice into the confined spaces between the core and shell, and when the ball is then released to recover its normal shape, oil and air are then sucked back into the core, these actions producing the gurgling sounds.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1997Date of Patent: December 8, 1998Inventors: Joseph G. DiResta, James DiResta, Perry Gargano

Patent number: 5769682Abstract: A squeezable toy plaything which simulates an organic object, such as a human organ, a body part, or a humanoid figure, which plaything when squeezed and released then generates a gurgling sound. The plaything includes a generally spherical outer shell formed of flexible transparent plastic film encasing a hollow inner core. The core is molded of resilient plastic material whose outer surface is contoured to simulate the appearance of the object, the core being provided with an orifice which renders the hollow core collapsible. Injected into the core through the orifice is a charge of oil or other viscous liquid. When the ball is squeezed and deformed, oil and air are discharged from the orifice into the confined spaces between the core and shell, and when the ball is then released to recover its normal shape, oil and air are then sucked back into the shell, these actions producing a gurgling sound.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1996Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Inventors: Joseph G. DiResta, James DiResta, Perry Gargano

Patent number: 5577723Abstract: A squeezable toy ball which simulates a human organ such as the intestine, the ball when squeezed and released then generating a gurgling sound similar to that produced by a functioning intestine. The ball comprises a generally spherical outer shell formed of flexible plastic film encasing a hollow inner core. The core is molded of resilient plastic material to simulate the appearance of an intestine and is provided with an orifice which renders the hollow core collapsible. Injected into the core through the orifice is a charge of oil or other viscous liquid. When the ball is squeezed and deformed, oil and air are discharged from the orifice into the confined spaces between the core and shell, and when the ball is then released to recover its normal shape, oil and air are then sucked back into the shell, these actions producing a gurgling sound.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1995Date of Patent: November 26, 1996Inventors: Joseph G. DiResta, James DiResta, Perry Gargano

Patent number: 5419730Abstract: A sounding toy constructed of a hollow, resilient body having a rigid, tubular valve member extending through a body wall and a toy balloon located inside the body receiving an inner end of the valve member by the neck of the balloon being trapped between two tubular portions of the valve member. Repeated, rapid, squeeze and release of the body everts and reciprocates the balloon through the valve out from and back into the body, inflating the balloon outside the body each time with a startlingly loud and sharp pop or crack.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1993Date of Patent: May 30, 1995Assignee: ToyvisionInventors: James Diresta, Russell Emisson
