  • Patent number: 9058354
Abstract: Integrated multi-criteria decision frameworks disclosed herein can facilitate making good decisions when faced with a complex choice among several alternatives with different combinations of strengths and weaknesses. Some decision support systems using multi-criteria methods can combine multiple multi-criteria methods in a single adaptable decision support intervention. In some embodiments, the framework can include some or all of the following modules: a decision strategy module; a balance sheet module; an interactive decision dashboard module; an ordinal ranking module; a direct weighting module; and an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) module.

  • Patent number: 7179677
Abstract: A process for making a thin film ZnO/Cu(InGa)Se2 solar cell without depositing a buffer layer and by Zn doping from a vapor phase, comprising: depositing Cu(InGa)Se2 layer on a metal back contact deposited on a glass substrate; heating the Cu(InGa)Se2 layer on the metal back contact on the glass substrate to a temperature range between about 100° C. to about 250° C.; subjecting the heated layer of Cu(InGa)Se2 to an evaporant species from a Zn compound; and sputter depositing ZnO on the Zn compound evaporant species treated layer of Cu(InGa)Se2.

  • Publication number: 20060005546
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a compressor powered by a turbine. The turbine includes a nozzle having vanes extending between outer and inner bands. Each vane includes an internal cooling plenum and a bypass tube extending through the bands. First and second manifolds surround the outer band and are disposed in flow communication with the plenums and bypass tubes, respectively. A bleed circuit joins the compressor to the manifolds for providing pressurized air thereto. A control valve modulates airflow to the first manifold and in turn through the cooling plenums of the vanes.

  • Publication number: 20050252194
Abstract: A method facilitates assembling a gas turbine engine including a compressor and a rotor assembly coupled in axial flow communication downstream from the compressor. The method comprises coupling a bypass system in flow communication with the compressor to channel a portion of flow discharged from the compressor towards the rotor assembly is channeled through the bypass system, and coupling a downstream end of the bypass system within the gas turbine engine such that the flow entering the bypass system flows past the rotor assembly and is discharged downstream from the rotor assembly.

  • Publication number: 20050205375
Abstract: A torque transfer mechanism is provided for controlling the magnitude of a clutch engagement force exerted on a multi-plate clutch assembly that is operably disposed between a first rotary and a second rotary member. The torque transfer mechanism includes an actuator having a first cam fixed for rotation with the first rotary member and a second cam having a rotor which is rotatably disposed within a chamber filled with magnetorheological fluid. An electromagnetic coil is disposed in proximity to the chamber and is selectively energized for varying the viscosity of the magnetorheological fluid so as to induce axial movement of the first cam for engaging the multi-plate clutch assembly.

  • Patent number: 5884864
Abstract: A missile has a body with a substantially circular nose opening therein, and a ceramic radome sized to cover the nose opening. A compliant metallic circular transition element is disposed structurally between the radome and the body. The transition element includes an elongated compliant arm region and a crossbar region positioned adjacent to the radome such that a lower margin surface of the radome rests against an upper side of the crossbar region. A brazed butt joint is formed between the lower margin surface of the radome and the upper side of the crossbar region of the transition element. A second brazed lap joint is formed between the vehicle body and the elongated compliant arm of the transition element.
