In some aspects, the coating forms a barrier essentially impermeable to microorganisms yet permeable to water vapor. The coating may also be flexible and conformable to the surface. The coating may be applied to the skin using any suitable method. In some embodiments, the polymer and/or active agent are dissolved and/or suspended in a volatile solvent. In some embodiments, the volatile solvent may function as an antiseptic on skin.
