  • Patent number: 4858269
Abstract: A wet/dry vacuum cleaner unit having a transparent tube on the exterior of its tank that serves as a sight gage to display the volume of water collected in the tank and as a drain hose for conveniently discharging water from the tank. A suspension system molded in the bottom wall of the tank allows the unit to be tipped on its wheels for draining purposes and allows the unit to readily trail the pull of a vacuum hose.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 25, 1989
Date of Patent: August 22, 1989
    Assignee: The Scott Fetzer Company
Inventors: Richard J. Ostroski, James E. Bigley, John L. Falk, E. Charles Sallee
  • Patent number: 4850076
Abstract: A hand-held combination power brush and suction cleaner unit having control means to selectively adjust and shut off suction air flow for brush working a surface without vacuum pick-up and with reserve motor power, the unit being particularly suited for use with dry particle cleaners.

  • Patent number: 4791700
Abstract: An illumination system for a vacuum cleaner including a thermoplastic injection molded lens which, cooperating with a reflector surface, provides a high level of optical efficiency. The lens includes separate prism and diffusion areas which focus light immediately ahead of the cleaner. The lens and reflector allow a low wattage bulb to be utilized and thereby avoid excessive generation of heat and the requirement for a bulb socket for heat dissipation.

Date of Patent: December 20, 1988
    Assignee: The Scott Fetzer Company
Inventors: James E. Bigley, Lee R. Estelle
  • Patent number: 4709443
Abstract: A relatively rigid, air permeable panel suitable, for example, as a diffuser on a hard box vacuum cleaner housing. The panel is a composite of fabric and a polymeric frame molded in situ on the fabric. The disclosed molded frame technique avoids the necessity of separate fastening means between the fabric and frame and obviates the need for edge finishing of the fabric.
