  • Patent number: 4261087
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus for storing and serially positioning a series of carrier strip mounted electrical connectors at a wire insertion station whereat pairs of small gauge insulated wires are trimmed and inserted into the electrical connectors. Each wire-receiving portion of a connector is located by a projecting portion on the connector. A reeling device advances the carrier strip until the projecting portion registers against a stop which momentarily positions the wire-receiving portion correctly at the insertion station. Subsequent to connection of a pair of wires in the connector the stop is removed allowing advancement of the carrier strip. The stop is then replaced to engage another of the projections on the same connector or another connector to position momentarily another wire-receiving portion of the connector at the insertion station.

  • Patent number: 4221445
Abstract: A telecommunications distributing system for use in a building requiring a large number of telephone circuits is disclosed. The assembly employs multi-conductor connectors having two rows of terminals attached to the ends of incoming and outgoing telephone cables. A jumper connector assembly for interconnecting corresponding incoming and outgoing wire pairs is also employed. In one embodiment, the jumper connector establishes an edge contact with the terminals in the multi-conductor connector to minimize the width of the jumper connector.

  • Patent number: 4178055
Abstract: Connector for connecting pairs of wires to each other comprises an insulating housing having oppositely directed wire-receiving ends. An electrical connecting device is mounted in each of the ends and wire admitting slots extend from each end partially across one wall of the housing. Corresponding wires of two pairs of wires are connected to each other by moving the wires laterally of their axes towards the wire-receiving ends, through the wire admitting slots, and into the connecting means. A plurality of such connectors are mounted on a continuous carrier strip which can be fed through a semi-automatic wire insertion apparatus. An alternative embodiment is disclosed for connecting a pair of tap wires to a pair of through wires.

  • Patent number: 4127312
Abstract: Multi-conductor electrical connector comprises a body member having oppositely directed first and second faces and contact terminals mounted therein. The terminals have wire-receiving portions extending from the first face and have receptacle portions on the second face, the receptacle portions being dimensioned to be mated with a contact portion of a similar or identical terminal. The first and second faces are complementary to each other so that the connector body can be plugged at both faces to another connector body. The connector body can be used with an identical connector body or with other housing parts to form a pluggable multi-wire splice, a tap connection, and to install new equipment in a telephone cable.
