  • Patent number: 6169110
Abstract: Methods of accelerating skin rejuvenation and methods of skin care treatment are disclosed using a combination of vitamin A and alphahydroxy acids, such as the combination of vitamin A propionate and glycolic acid. The combination can be prepared in an alcohol-based carrier having concentrations ranging from approximately 0.01% to 10% vitamin A propionate, preferably 0.1% to 4%, and 0.1% to 30% glycolic acid, preferably 2% to 10% glycolic acid. In addition to alcohol, the carrier may also include propylene glycol, preservatives, thickeners and non-ionic surfactants or may be a cream or ointment-based formulation. The formulation is applied topically to the skin at a frequency which will produce a fine desquamation. The formulation may also be used to accelerate the penetration of other therapeutic agents into the skin.

  • Patent number: 5705179
Abstract: Perfluoropolyether compounds are used for augmenting lost or damaged tissue. The perfluoropolyether compounds are subcutaneously administered in the form of micro-droplets to stimulate the formation of collagen at selected sites of tissue loss or damage in an individual in need thereof.

  • Patent number: 5043356
Abstract: Topically applied compositions for the accelerated rejuvenation of skin and an associated method of skin care treatment are disclosed utilizing vitamin A propionate of the general formula ##STR1## in an aqueous based carrier at a concentration ranging from 0.1% to 4.0%. The carrier may include non-ionic surfactants, preservatives and thickeners. The vitamin A propionate composition is topically applied to the skin at a frequency which is determined by skin type as determined by skin oil production rate.

  • Patent number: 4361584
Abstract: Compositions containing organic peroxides are effective for the treatment of acne. Decomposition of the organic paroxide during storage is prevented by the incorporation of glycerol, which is sufficiently effective so that decomposition is prevented even in those peroxides which are so unstable as to be explosive.

  • Patent number: 4350681
Abstract: Benzoyl peroxide dispersed in an aqueous medium is stabilized by the presence of glycerol. Where the composition includes a finely dispersed and mild abrasive, together with a wetting agent and a thickener, the composition is suitable for use as a toothpaste. Where the composition includes a suitably large quantity of wetting agent and an appropriate soft abrasive, the composition is effective as a body scrub in preparation for surgery.
