  • Patent number: 8818284
Abstract: A dynamic spectrum access method for cooperative wireless devices. In one example, a method of establishing a wireless network includes scanning and analyzing a selected frequency band to detect non-cooperative signals within the selected frequency band, determining whether a waveform including one or more radio frequency (RF) carriers and a plurality of intermodulation tones (for multi-carrier waveforms) can be placed within the selected frequency band without interfering with any detected non-cooperative signals, and selecting transmit frequencies for the plurality of RF carriers responsive to obtaining a non-interfering waveform placement solution.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 2011
Date of Patent: August 26, 2014
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Jeremy H. Hochstedler, James E. Hardin, Brian W. Snodgrass
  • Patent number: 8462861
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for mitigating multipath signal interference comprising transmitting a first signal and second signal that is a copy of the first signal, transmitting the first signal centered at a first frequency, transmitting the second signal centered at a second frequency separated from the first frequency by a selected distance, receiving at a receiving node the first and second signals, estimating a signal quality of the received first and second signals, and decoding a first one of the received first and second signals based upon the estimated signal qualities of the received first and second signals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2009
Date of Patent: June 11, 2013
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Thomas P. Zahm, Benjamin F. Pierce, III, James E. Hardin
