  • Patent number: 6331249
Abstract: An apparatus for treating a secondary treated wastewater effluent. The apparatus comprises an anoxic first zone for accepting the secondary effluent wherein the first zone includes heterotrophic bacteria, a carbon source, and an outlet structure including a limestone aggregate. The apparatus further comprises a second zone including an entrance structure that is in fluid communication with the outlet structure and an exit structure in fluid communication with the second zone. The exit structure includes a cationic exchange medium wherein the exit structure discharges the effluent to a disposal mechanism such as a subsurface disposal field.

  • Patent number: 6050191
Abstract: A multi-pass imaging system and method provides for duplex documents and multiple color images with variable information to be printed by re-entering a substrate into a same tower system, employing a split roller design, for generating subsequent portions of a printed image. When a webbed substrate is fed into a tower, a first one in each of multiple pairs of rollers moves the substrate past a first set of printheads for generating a first portion of the printed image. The substrate is then re-entered into the tower, and a second one in each of the multiple pairs of rollers moves the substrate past a subsequent set of printheads for generating a subsequent portion of the printed image. Each of the multiple pairs of rollers comprise independently operating dual rollers on a single shaft.

  • Patent number: 5652279
Abstract: Polyoxyalkylene polyether polyols suitable for preparation of flexible polyurethane foams are prepared by oxyalkylating an aqueous solution of one or more polyhydric, hydroxyl-functional solid initiators under conditions where both water as well as initiator are oxyalkylated. The polyols have calculated functionalities of between about 2.2 and 4.0 and hydroxyl numbers in the range of 10 to 180. The polyols may be used to prepare soft, high resiliency polyurethane flexible foams at low isocyanate indexes.

  • Patent number: 5272509
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid dispensing apparatus suitable for use in the fuser of an electrostatographic recording machine such as, for example, a xerographic copier or a printer. The apparatus includes a trough (41), a wick (100) extending along its length and a roller (47) in contact with the wick (100). A metering blade (49) is located adjacent the roller (47) in such a manner as to scrape off excess liquid from the surface of the roller (47), the metering blade (49) being disposed relative to the wick (100) such that the excess liquid falls on the wick (100) thereby ensuring saturation of the wick (100). Return paths for the excess liquid are provided between the wick (100) and the wall of the trough (41) so as to prevent build up of the excess liquid above the wick (100).

  • Patent number: 5243492
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for fabricating a hermetic coaxial feedthrough device wherein a pin is substantially centered within the device. The pin can be electrically connected to the outer portion of the device via a bridge wire to form a header that is particularly useful for igniting a gas-generating composition in an air bag device. The invention also provides an eyelet useful in the process and an improved header device having a substantially smooth surface.

  • Patent number: 4936941
Abstract: The invention is an automatic skin taping machine for use in applying a protective coating to sheets of material, especially aluminum. The machine comprises a main frame, a transfer car movable within the main frame, an applicator that uniformly applies the coating to the sheet of material by moving over the surface of the sheet, a retainer that immobilizes the sheet of material while the applicator is applying the coating, and a vacuum lift system for transferring the sheet of material from an application position to a storage position. In a preferred embodiment, the application includes a floating roller and a squeegee device.
