Abstract: A method, computer program and database system for use in analyzing associations in the order of transactions are disclosed. Data is loaded from the transactions into the database system. The data includes an entry for each transaction and the transactions are grouped into groups. The transactions within each group are put into an order. An analysis of the groups of transactions is performed to find associations in the order of the transactions in the groups.

The concatenated data is used in identifying two or more records that share a common value, which indicates that the records all represent a particular customer. A unique identification value is assigned to this customer and is stored with each of the identified records. In some embodiments, the process is used in identifying records that represent multiple customers living together in a single household.

Abstract: Tracking the actions of an Internet user involves loading data from the transaction log of an Internet server into a database system. The data includes an entry for each request to the Internet server, including information identifying which user submitted the request and information identifying the time at which the request was received. The database system recreates the actions, or clickstream, of a particular user by selecting all entries associated with that user and corresponding to a single user session.
