  • Patent number: 5544726
Abstract: A low mass brake rotor apparatus with flow through ventilation is disclosed for enhanced cooling performance and improved resistances to thermal distortion. The brake rotor apparatus comprises bifurcated radial cooling ducts to maintain predetermined cooling medium velocity therethrough for optimal heat convection. Balanced heat conduction is achieved to minimize thermal distortion by providing symmetrically oriented rubbing surfaces with equivalent thermal conduction load paths.

  • Patent number: 5498197
Abstract: A hand-held blast cleaning machine having a motor which serves as a handle. The machine includes a blast assembly for propelling abrasive material against a surface and a hopper for supplying abrasive material to the blast assembly. The blast assembly has a blast corridor, a rebound corridor, a blast opening, a blast wheel and a motor. The motor drives the rotation of the blast wheel and serves as a handle. The hopper has a return corridor, a collection area, a feed area and a vacuum conduit. The vacuum conduit is connected to a vacuum source to collect dust and debris from the blast cleaning operation. In one embodiment, an side-blast hopper, a down-blast hopper, an up-blast hopper and a side-feed hopper are all interchangeably attachable to the same blast assembly. A shut-off handle is attached to the blast assembly to provide automatic shut-off abrasive material to the blast wheel and to function as a second handle. In another embodiment, the motor serves as the only handle.

  • Patent number: 5351483
Abstract: An integral manifold-muffler-catalyst device (for an internal combustion engine having a plurality of combustion cylinders generating exhaust gases), comprising: (a) a monolithic catalyst having a plurality of aligned passages for effecting laminar flow of the exhaust gases therethrough while; (b) a high temperature resistant chamber assembly for close-coupling the catalyst to the engine having (i) an expansion chamber for substantially dissipating low frequency standing sound waves of said exhaust gases and for modifying high frequency sound waves of said exhaust gases and (ii) manifolding passages at one side of the expansion chamber for collecting and delivering the exhaust gases from the cylinders to the expansion chamber; and (c) means for effecting converging flow from said expansion chamber to and across substantially the full entrance face of said aligned passages, as well as from the catalyst, for effecting attenuation of high frequency sound waves carried by the exhaust gases.

  • Patent number: 4329930
Abstract: A draft air deflecting device is mountable proximate to a window contained in a firebox and serves as a conduit which directs draft air across the inner surface of the window prior to its supporting combustion of the fuel in the firebox. In this respect, the draft air deflecting device is formed as a box which communicates with draft air holes located in the firebox and which includes a forwardly extending lip serving to define a nozzle for both increasing the velocity and directing the incoming draft air across the firebox window. The incoming draft air is thus utilized to cool and to prevent soot, creosote and other particulates from accumulating on the window.
