    Abstract: A hydraulic elevator system wherein the pressure in the hydraulic system is used to measure load in the passenger compartment of the elevator car when the elevator car is stationary. A pressure monitoring device, such as a pressure switch, is calibrated to provide a signal when a predetermined pressure is reached, with this signal being used to modify the operation of the elevator system.
