  • Publication number: 20230376619
Abstract: A device that encapsulates functions necessary to sanitize an electronic system after detecting tampering or when user zeroization occurs. The device includes a FPGA, sensors, external tamper sensors, a battery, interfaces or discrete signals required to execute sanitization of hard drives, flash, registers, etc. The device issues a sanitization response through interface commands Manual sanitization (zeroization) can be achieved two ways, locally or through a remote zeroize button/switch/discrete. The sanitization response is activated through monitoring the tamper sensors. The sanitization response will destroy stored data and encryption keys before they can be compromised. The sanitization response could produce a notification that an event has occurred. The system can provide data protection without main line or standby power. Sensors could include, chassis intrusion switches, motion detectors, radiation sensors, light sensors, temperature sensors, magnetic sensors, or other external inputs.

  • Publication number: 20220007541
Abstract: A system and method enabling the use of convection cooled dual-inline memory modules (DIMM) in non-convection environments, specifically used for computing applications for harsh environments. This system and method describes a design which transfers heat from the various components on the memory module to thermally opportunistic areas of an enclosure in the absence of sufficient or in some cases any convective cooling conditions. The system and method describes a sandwiched metal heat plate assembly, being constructed from a thermally conductive material, which is attached to a heat pipe, designed to be highly thermally conductive, which is further attached to a thermally conductive cold plate saddle, which in turn is connected to a thermal sink. The heat generated in the DIMM is conducted to the heat plate by way of a thermal interface material, this energy transferred to the heat pipe, and then to a cold plate which dissipates the energy to the ambient environment.

  • Publication number: 20180062287
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for allowing for the use of commercial dual inline memory module (DIMM) in high shock and vibration environments while preserving serviceability. This system extends the performance of the standard Joint Electron Device Engineering (JEDEC) memory connectors in said environments without sacrificing high speed electrical performance. The system provides a simple clip which locks the module in place using the standard connector latches preventing relative motion of the connector and the DIMM thereby insuring uninterrupted computational performance.

  • Patent number: 6494587
Abstract: A method of backlighting a flat panel display over an expanded dimming range includes providing a backlight including multiple cold cathode fluorescent lamps positionable directly behind a diffuser. Each of multiple drive circuits is adapted to independently adjust arc current of at least one of the multiple cold cathode fluorescent lamps in order to change the luminance output of the at least one of the cold cathode fluorescent lamps. Control signals are provided to each of the multiple drive circuits to separately control luminance output of different cold cathode fluorescent lamps such that at the same instant the different cold cathode fluorescent lamps are driven to substantially different luminance intensities, thereby allowing a reduction of an overall minimum luminance provided by the backlight and expanding the dimmable range of the backlight. A backlight implementing the methods of the invention is also disclosed.
