    Abstract: A shield structure is arranged in mounted communication with a fireplace grate in adjacency to a rear wall of a fireplace to afford protection to the fire bricks of the fireplace rear wall minimizing their deterioration. The shield structure is arranged to include abutment portions to a rear face of the shield arrangement to provide for a spaced relationship of the shield relative to the fireplace rear wall to provide for an air barrier between the shield and the rear wall.
