  • Patent number: 7051634
Abstract: A saw table for sheet material includes a platform having an abutment stop along one edge for engaging and locating sheet material supported on the platform. A mast is disposed adjacent to the platform edge for rotation about an axis perpendicular to the platform. A boom extends from the mast over the platform, and has an elongated track perpendicular to the axis of the mast. A carriage is carried by the boom for movement along the track. The carriage is adapted for mounting a saw, such as a circular saw, such that movement of the carriage along the track brings the saw into engagement with sheet material supported on the platform against the abutment stop.

  • Patent number: 6763695
Abstract: A sheet material cutter and bending brake combination includes a sheet bending brake having a base member with a clamp surface, and an anvil member for clamping sheet material against the clamp surface. The anvil member has a track extending longitudinally of the anvil member and the brake. The track includes a pair of parallel channels that are at an angle to each other, and are laterally spaced from each other—i.e., laterally of the longitudinal dimension of the brake and the longitudinal direction of the track. The track also includes a second channel extending along the anvil member parallel to the first channel and disposed between the lip and the clamp surface. A cutter has a frame, and first and second pairs of track rollers mounted on the frame. The first pair of track rollers have outwardly extending peripheries for receipt in the first channel, and the second pair of track rollers have outwardly extending peripheries for receipt in the second channel.

  • Patent number: 6748784
Abstract: A portable sheet bending brake has a support frame with spaced longitudinally extending rails and a plurality of frame sections interconnecting the rails. A clamp member is carried by the lower arms of the frame sections, and an anvil member is carried by arms pivotally coupled to the upper arms of the frame sections. A bend member is pivotally mounted to the clamp member for bending over the anvil member sheet material clamped between the anvil and base members. A pair of longitudinally spaced handles are pivotally mounted to the bend member for pivoting into a channel on the bend member out of position to facilitate transport and storage of the brake. • Patent number: 6748783
Abstract: A bend/cut-off gauge includes a hanger having a first portion adapted to engage at least one track feature on the anvil member of a sheet bending brake, and a second portion extending from the first portion so as to be cantilevered from the anvil member adjacent to the sheet material clamp surface on the base member of the brake. An abutment stop is disposed on the second portion of the hanger for engagement by an edge of sheet material resting on the clamp surface. The width of the sheet material between the edge of the anvil member and the abutment stop is thus accurately gauged. The gauge may then be removed from the anvil member, and the bend member operated to bend an accurately gauged strip of material over the anvil member, or the cutter mechanism operated along the track feature(s) on the anvil member to sever an accurately gauged strip of material from the sheet stock clamped between the anvil member and the base member.

  • Patent number: 6389864
Abstract: A sheet bending brake and stabilizing assembly wherein the sheet bending brake alone is constructed and arranged such that when a workpiece is clamped for bending when a person stands on the floor facing the handle means and the handle means is grasped and raised in a direction away from the person in order to move the handle means and raise the handles means, forces occur which prevent the handle means from moving sufficiently to produce a predetermined bend and the forces causes the entire sheet bending brake to tip away from the person about the portions of the legs which project outwardly from said bending brake and thus prevent the movement of the bending member relative to the first member and prevent bending of the workpiece. The stabilizing assembly for counteracting such forces on the sheet bending brake comprises transversely spaced rails receiving at least a portion of the ends of the leg assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5651298
Abstract: A portable saw table comprising a saw track pivotally supported on a saw table. An improved lightweight plastic protractor and indexer plate are rotatably mounted with respect to each other by an improved pivot mount. The pivot mount comprises a plurality of lobes received in a complementary recess in the indexer plate in a spline-like engagement providing strength and rigidity to prevent flexing to ensure accurate pivotal movement. The improved protractor is guided by a gib mounted on the indexer plate for smooth pivotal movement. The plastic protractor includes indicia to indicate the degree of angular movement and the plastic indexer plate includes a window for viewing the indicia. In one form, the protractor has an angled portion with indicia and the indexer plate has an angled magnifying sight lens for easy viewing of the adjustment angle. A hollow material stop is provided to accommodate workpieces of varying thickness.

  • Patent number: 5644940
Abstract: A portable slitter for selectively roll slitting rib forming or perforating sheet metal workpieces and having a beam-type frame, a pair of spaced thin walled and light weight rotary torque tube roll shafts mounted in the frame and supporting the work rolls, and a plurality of pairs of opposed stabilizing support blocks disposed between the shafts and the associated frame beams and providing further strength to the shafts by functioning as intermediate span shaft journal supports carrying the roll work loads imposed on shafts directly into the frame beams. The bearing members can be readily removed and adjusted longitudinally of the shafts without taking the frame apart. The slitter can be readily manually transported to the work site because it has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is light in overall weight. The slitter has substantial operational strength and improved work roll registry and alignment under continuous and/or adverse on-site operating conditions.
