    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of communicating information between a navigational computer and a user by the input and output devices associated with the navigational computer to determine a navigational parameter. The method includes the step of using the input device to select a navigational parameter whose value is to be determined by the navigational calculator. The preferred method includes the step of using the output device to display all of the variables required to calculate the selected navigational parameter. Also included in the method of the present invention is the step of using the input device to define the values associated with the variables necessary to calculate the selected navigational parameter in any order that is convenient to the user. Moreover, the user can change the value associated with a variable until the desired value is attained without having to redefine the values associated with other variables.
