  • Patent number: 6322287
Abstract: A grading machine includes a forwardly projecting frame partially supported by a small tractor. A blade assembly on the frame disperses and strikes off aggregate for subsequent paving along a course. The blade assembly of the apparatus is indirectly supported by linear actuators in turn supported by a shoe which travels along the aggregate surface. Adjustable indicators on the flame indicate the relationship of the aggregate surface to a desired aggregate height with subsequent operation of the actuators lifting or lowering the blade assembly to raise or lower the blade assembly strike off action for return of the indicators to a predetermined relationship to guides, shown as concrete forms, extending along the course of the aggregate being laid. A vibratory compactor trails the shoe and may move about multiple axes. The shoe supported actuators may be operated in a uniform or differential manner, the latter resulting in transversely tilting the blade assembly for transverse sloping of the aggregate surface.

  • Patent number: 6015019
Abstract: A vehicle is disclosed including a load carrying box for the transport of material to a work site in an over-the-road manner. An auxiliary drive and steering system operates at the site for control of vehicle speed and direction with the vehicle operator re-located out of the vehicle to monitor material discharge. The motor drives the vehicle through a gear reduction unit and power transmission component powering a tooth plate clutch mounted on a driveline segment. An engine powered hydraulic pump provides an auxiliary drive bi-directional motor with a remotely controlled directional valve regulating motor speed and direction. A motor control circuit also includes counterbalancing valves served by the directional valve and a torque relief valve dissipating motor torque at the end of an auxiliary drive operation allowing clutch disengagement without risk of clutch damage.

  • Patent number: 5207551
Abstract: This invention relates to a conveyor assembly on a truck for transporting and mixing concrete components. The conveyor assembly is secured in place by guides permitting lineal removal of the conveyor assembly A conveyor belt is supported by rollers which are carried in pairs of recessed blocks for easy removal. The margins of the belt are in contact with barriers extending lengthwise along the conveyor which confine the concrete components on the belt. Barrier supports are of the over center clamping type to facilitate barrier adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5190118
Abstract: Systems are disclosed for the driving of a truck during a paving operation by an operator located alongside the truck and adjacent the paving site. The truck transmission power take off powers a hydraulic pump with pump output being controlled by a pair of solenoid valves with one regulating fluid flow to a hydraulic drive motor driving the truck differential through a gear reduction drive while the other valve controls fluid flow to a hydraulic motor coupled to a steering component of the truck. Both of the solenoid valves are in electrical circuit with switches located exteriorally on the truck for access by the dismounted driver as is a truck brake control. Accordingly steering, braking and fore and aft truck movement may all be accomplished by an operator positioned adjacent the truck.

  • Patent number: 4422767
Abstract: A mounting ring carried by a truck frame supports a swingably positionable mixing and delivery trough by which concrete ingredients are mixed and poured at a site. A catch basin is carried by the mounting ring and provides both nozzles and scraper means serving to purge the belt surface of particles. Barriers at the basin sides laterally confine the purged particles. Positionable scrapers carried by the catch basin are swingable to an inoperable rearward position to permit access to the catch basin for periodic cleaning. Water and particulate are removed from the belt surface to enhance belt life and thence are routed from the catch basin back into the normal flow of concrete ingredients and into the delivery trough. Nozzle sprays, in addition to belt washing, may provide the total water required for the concrete mix.
