  • Publication number: 20250179249
Abstract: A method of producing a polymer includes steps of providing ?-valerolactone 2-ethylidene-6-hepten-5-olide (EVL); providing an amine-containing compound; allowing the EVL and the amine-containing compound to be mixed to form a mixture; and subjecting the mixture to conditions that will allow the EVL to chemically combine with the amine-containing compound to produce the polymer. A method of producing a monomer includes steps of providing carbon dioxide and an olefin in a first reaction mixture; and subjecting the first reaction mixture to conditions that will allow the carbon dioxide to be chemically bonded with the olefin to form a monomer. A composition includes a combination product of a lactone; and an amine-containing compound.

  • Patent number: 12247092
Abstract: A semicrystalline multiblock copolymer includes alternating blocks of semicrystalline isotactic polypropylene (iPP) and semicrystalline polyethylene (PE), having a block arrangement according to formula (I): (iPPw)p(PEx)(iPPy)m(PEz)n?? (I), wherein p is 0 or 1; m is 0 or 1; n is 0 or 1; the sum of p, m, and n is 1, 2, or 3; and the sum of w, x, y, and z is greater than or equal to 40 kg/mol, with the provisos that: when m and n are 0, the sum of w and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol; and when p and n are 0, the sum of y and x is greater than or equal to 140 kg/mol. • Publication number: 20230279040
Abstract: This application relates to efficient methods for the synthesis of ascarylose and its derivatives. A method for the production of ascarylose includes: providing, as a feedstock, a 1-O-substituted rhamnose; forming a mono-sulfonate ester at the 3—OH group of the 1-O-substituted rhamnose; and treating the mono-sulfonate ester with a hydride source to form a 1-O-substituted ascarylose. Forming the mono-sulfonate ester can advantageously be conducted on a 1-O-substituted rhamnose without hydroxyl protecting groups at either the 2—OH or 4—OH—positions.

  • Publication number: 20230055430
Abstract: A semicrystalline plastic composition comprising: a semicrystalline plastic and an additive dispersed therein. The semicrystalline plastic includes a polymeric chain comprising repeat units of an oligomeric or polymeric chain and the additive comprises a supramolecular building block and an oligomeric or polymeric tail. The oligomeric or polymeric tail of the additive having the same repeat units as the polymeric chain of the semicrystalline plastic. The additive forming a plurality of sheet-like structures through hydrogen bonding. The sheet-like structures, interacting through non-covalent interaction, form crystallized additive domains within the semicrystalline plastic.
