  • Publication number: 20180102471
Abstract: A transducer (140) having a mechanical impedance over an operative frequency range and having a desired power coupling (145) to a load over the operative frequency range comprises a piezoelectric device (141) having a frequency distribution of modes in the operative frequency range; and an overmould (143). The overmould (143) is arranged to surround at least part of the piezoelectric device (141); and the parameters of the overmould (143) are selected to provide a required impedance matching between the mechanical impedance of the transducer (140) and the mechanical impedance of the load. An alternative transducer comprises a mounting means for holding a discrete portion of at least a part of the periphery of the piezoelectric device wherein the parameters of the mounting means are selected to provide a required boundary condition for the periphery of the piezoelectric device whereby the desired power coupling between the transducer and the load is provided.

  • Publication number: 20160015373
Abstract: High viscosity medical adhesive formulations are provided with an applicator device that allows the medical adhesives to be easily sterilized, accurately dispensed and optimally cured for medical applications. The preferred medical adhesive formulations include 2-octyl cyanoacrylate and n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate monomers in formulation with various additives. The medical adhesive can be formulated to be bio-absorbable and/or bio-degradable. Suitable thickeners, stabilizers, plasticizing agents, preservatives, reinforcing agents, colorants and anti-bacterial compounds may advantageously be included in the formulation. The formulation is preferably placed within a sealed aluminum or plastic tube. An applicator tip with plastic brush bristles is used for application and curing of the formulation. On one end, the applicator tip preferably has a cutting or piercing mechanism which is capable of breaking the seal on the tube.

  • Publication number: 20150071479
Abstract: An audio apparatus including a housing and a piezoelectric transducer mounted in the housing so that the transducer is adjacent a user's pinna. The transducer excites vibration in the pinna to cause it to transmit an acoustic signal from the transducer to a user's inner ear. The apparatus further including a coupler coupling the transducer to the housing with the coupler approximating to a simple support for the transducer.

  • Patent number: 8736558
Abstract: A user/machine interface comprising a panel having a surface, the panel being capable of supporting bending waves, a touch-sensitive input device associated with the surface, and means including a force transducer for providing force feedback to the input device. The force is in the form of pulses to the panel, the pulses being in the form of a modulated signal shaped as a damped sinusoid whereby a button click sensation is provided to the user's finger tip. The modulated signal may be produced by a narrow-band sine wave having a carrier frequency in the range 150 to 750 Hz and being of a duration of at least 10 ms.
