  • Patent number: 9309794
Abstract: A system and method for determining the oil pressure of an internal combustion engine is disclosed herein. The system and/or method may estimate the oil pressure using the response of two variable camshaft timing actuators having respective phase angle change control signals. Specifically, the signals may be used to determine whether the oil pressure is below a low oil pressure threshold value. The rate of response of the actuators may also be used to determine a current engine oil pressure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 2012
Date of Patent: April 12, 2016
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 7675417
Abstract: A fence alarm for detecting and identifying a location in a fence which is broken. The fence alarm comprises a power source for providing power to the alarm components, the components including a plurality of detectors, each detector providing termination of a segment of the fence, each detector having a unique identifier, whereby the detector outputs its unique identifier when the segment is broken. The alarm includes a transmitter for transmitting the unique identifier, by means of an integrated antenna, which is received by a receiver. The fence alarm may also have computing or logic elements to provide additional storage or processing of signals, or data associated with the fence or the alarm.

  • Publication number: 20070030864
Abstract: A method and system for synchronization of link layer windows in a wireless communications system is disclosed. At a transmitter in the wireless communications system, the transmitter transmits a plurality of frames in a transmitter's link layer window, wherein each frame comprises segments and sends a request for an acknowledgement of the plurality of frames to a receiver. Then the transmitter determines a last transmitted segment of an eldest frame of the plurality of frames in the transmitter's link layer window, if a response to the request is not received within a specified time period and sets a synchronization indicator in the determined last transmitted segment of the eldest frame. Finally, the transmitter transmits the determined last transmitted segment of the eldest frame with the synchronization indicator set to the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20050163586
Abstract: Blind fasteners are used to connect two or more workpieces together, and are particularly useful in aerodynamic designs. In such uses, it is very desirable to have a substantially flush surface. The present fastener comprises a fastener body having an axial bore therethrough and an enlarged head, a corebolt passing through the axial bore, the corebolt having a first portion, a threaded second portion, and a localized weakened region therebetween, a drive nut configured to fit around and threadingly engage the first portion of the corebolt, and a stop member that substantially prevents further withdrawal of the corebolt relative to the drive nut after the corebolt has been driven a predetermined distance during installation to shear the corebolt at the weakened region.

  • Patent number: 5733189
Abstract: An air vent for use in a motor vehicle passenger compartment, and in particular to an air vent with an air grill that can be rotated to a closed position. A housing has a first pivot bearing to which is connected a carrier with a second pivot bearing. An air grill with vanes has generally spherical peripheral surfaces and is connected to the second pivot bearing. The air grill may then be rotated about two orthogonal axes within the housing to vary the direction of the air flow entering the passenger compartment. The central vane has a circular periphery, and the air grill may also be rotated to a position in which this vane makes a seal with a compliant sealing section within the housing to close off the flow of air through the air vent.
