  • Publication number: 20140149587
Abstract: Techniques for measuring Peer-To-Peer (P2P) networks are provided. P2P are initially seeded with links to feigned content. As a P2P participant accesses a link, metrics are recorded about the P2P network being used by the participant. The metrics are used to form measurements to compare different P2P networks relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 7978828
Abstract: A system collects a plurality of communications including at least two different types of communications. The system links the plurality of communications with an identifier that can be used to identify the plurality of communications, and stores the plurality of communications. The system allows a user to perform an action on at least one of the plurality of communications.

  • Patent number: 7852992
Abstract: A system receives a complete audio message from an originator, and transmits the complete audio message to a destination. The system buffers the complete audio message at the destination. The complete audio message is capable of being played at the destination during the buffering. The system provides an ability to replay the complete audio message at the destination after the buffering of the complete audio message. The system provides an ability to respond to the complete audio message.

  • Patent number: 7715934
Abstract: An input profile is generated from an input audio file using a measurable attribute that was also used to generate reference profiles from reference audio files. The input profile is then subjected to a process that was also used to generate a reference profiles tree, which is structured as a sparse binary tree, from the reference profiles. As a result of the process, information of reference profiles having similar characteristics as the input profile, with respect to the measurable attribute, are retrieved from resulting nodes of the reference profiles tree. The input profile is then compared with this subset of the reference profiles, representing potential matches, to determine that either it matches one of the reference profiles, or that it is a spoof, or that it does not match any of the reference profiles.

  • Publication number: 20040107215
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for identifying electronic files under test. According to the invention, this process of identification involves reading a master file including a master signal sequence, dividing the master signal sequence into segments, generating a reference indicator representing each master signal segment, storing the respective reference indicators as a master profile, reading a test file including a test signal sequence, dividing the test signal sequence into segments, generating respective test indicators for successive segments of the test signal sequence to form a test profile, comparing the reference indicators and the test indicators successively for respective corresponding segments of the master and the test signal sequences, determining whether the reference indicators and the test indicators match, and generating a corresponding indication.

  • Publication number: 20020194895
Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining the coefficient of friction for plastic articles having non-planar surfaces and particularly plastic articles having irregular and arcuate surfaces, such as thermoplastic bottles or preforms utilizes a stationary sample and a rotatable sample in contact with the stationary sample. A downward force is applied to the stationary sample while applying torque to the rotatable sample. The torque applied is computer controlled and at the moment of slip is detected. The amount of torque necessary for maintaining a constant speed is also computer controlled and recorded. From the torque measurements, the computer calculates the coefficient of friction between the two sample materials.

  • Patent number: 5959296
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting an invisible, near infrared fluorescing mark disposed on a background comprises: includes an excitation source for exciting the mark, having sufficient power to excite the mark and provide a fluorescent signal the mark from a; a signal detector for detecting the fluorescent signal from the mark; a and power modulator means for varying the power if the excitation source between zero and the maximum power level to produce a decodable fluorescent signal from the mark disposed on the background. A process for decoding an invisible mark having a near infrared fluorescing material includes the steps of: providing at least one invisible, near infrared fluorescing mark disposed on at least one portion of a background; exciting the mark with a laser having a maximum power level sufficient to provide a fluorescent signal from the mark; detecting the fluorescent signal and concurrently varying the power of the laser between zero and its maximum power, to obtain a decodable fluorescent signal.
