    Abstract: A system and method for optimizing the effectiveness of an educational institution. A rules engine receives a request to manage an academic plan of a student from a user access device. The rules engine accesses a datastore and selects data based on the request that are indicative of the standing of the student with the educational institution at a point in time. The rules engine also selecting rules stored in a datastore based on the request. The rules engine applies the selected rules to the selected data to determine whether to grant the request. The data stored in the first memory are updated when the request is granted.
