  • Publication number: 20190307784
Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter provides methods for reducing sickling of an erythrocyte comprising sickle hemoglobin (HbS) by introducing polynucleotide aptamers into the erythrocyte. The polynucleotide aptamers specifically bind to HbS to inhibit polymerization of the HbS without affecting the oxygen affinity of the HbS.
