    Abstract: Techniques are illustrated herein for 1- and 2-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging in the living retina, using adaptive optics to correct aberrations and achieve cellular level resolution. 1-photon fluorescence embodiments may include the use of a confocal pinhole to provide axial sectiontin. 2-photon embodiments allow for inherent axial sectioning without having to block out-of-focus light.
