  • Patent number: 9572720
Abstract: A reduced noise pneumatic compression garment includes a flexible member having a bladder that can conform to a limb of the human body. A port in fluid communication with the bladder has an air flow path through which pressurized air is delivered to the bladder to inflate the bladder. A porous insert is located within the flow path of the port between the air inlet and the air outlet for reducing noise from air flow through the port into the inflatable chamber. • Patent number: 8414272
Abstract: A compression control unit for a compression device includes a mount on the back of a housing for mounting the compression control unit on a bed unit. The mount includes a securing portion spaced from a back of the housing and lying in a plane generally opposing the back of the housing. The securing portion partially defines a channel for receiving a part of the bed unit to secure the compression control unit to the bed unit. Spaced apart wing portions extend generally upward and laterally outward relative to the securing portion. The wing portions are configured so that fluid tubing secured to an outlet of the compression control unit can be wrapped around the wing portions when the compression control unit is mounted on the bed unit.

  • Publication number: 20100198144
Abstract: A controller for operating a pumping apparatus to supply fluid to a patient through a pump set includes a processor programmed to instruct a first source of electromagnetic radiation to emit electromagnetic radiation in a direction for striking a safety interlock of the pump set. The processor activates a first electromagnetic radiation detector to detect the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the first source. The processor instructs a second source of electromagnetic radiation to emit electromagnetic radiation in a direction for striking the safety interlock. The processor activates a second electromagnetic radiation detector to detect the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the second source. The processor controls the pumping apparatus to operate for pumping fluid in the pump set only when electromagnetic radiation emitted from the first source is detected by the first detector and when the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the second source is not detect by the second detector.

  • Patent number: 7763005
Abstract: A method of using a pump set on a pump to deliver a supply of liquid to a patient. The pumping apparatus has a control system for controlling operation of the pump. An electromagnetic radiation source is controlled by the control system to emit an electromagnetic radiation signal in a direction for striking a safety interlock device associated with the pump set. The safety interlock device affects the direction of the electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic radiation detector is operatively connected to the control system for receiving the electromagnetic radiation signal when the direction is affected by the safety interlock device, and provides an indication to the control system that the pump set conduit is properly positioned in the pump. The pump is controlled to pump liquid in the pump set only when electromagnetic radiation emitted from the first source is detected by the first detector.
