  • Patent number: 4160980
Abstract: A UHF antenna for black and white and color television receivers embodies a dished reflector and coacting a dipole mounted a fraction of a wave-length in front of the reflector and being of bow tie configuration. The antenna possesses broad band characteristics for wide angle reception, and wide frequency deviation at UHF wave-lengths. The antenna structure which is for indoor use is fabricated from simple sheet metal components and embodies an integral support base which can be manually adjusted in any direction. Economy and simplicity of construction are featured.

  • Patent number: 4017476
Abstract: Organic pigments for thermoplastic polymers are prepared by the anionic initiated slurry polymerization of styrene and 0.5-15 weight percent divinylbenzene based upon styrene in the presence of a block polymer dispersant, using, as the anionic initiator, an alkali metal-bearing compound at 20.degree. C. to 120.degree. C. to produce a finely divided solid cross-linked polymer and terminating the polymerization by reaction of the polymer particles with an organic dye, an organic dye precursor, or with a reactive coupling agent followed by reaction with an organic dye.

  • Patent number: 3972963
Abstract: Organic reinforcing fillers for rubber are prepared by the anionic initiated slurry polymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene in the presence of a block polymer dispersant. The polymerization reaction may be carried out using, as the anionic initiator, an alkali metal-bearing compound capable of initiating polymerization of styrene without imparting to the polymerization product groups reactive with rubber in a rubber cure in which case the polymerization is terminated by reaction of the polymer particles with a terminating agent that provides in the polymer groups reactive with rubber in a normal rubber cure; or the polymerization reaction can be carried out using, as the initiator, an alkali metal-bearing unsaturated polymer that in itself imparts to the polymer groups reactive with rubber in a normal rubber cure.

  • Patent number: 3959239
Abstract: A process for the hydrogenation of hydrocarbon materials having olefinic unsaturation and/or olefinic-aromatic unsaturation, and particularly wherein hydrogenation is carried out at relatively low catalyst levels and mild reaction conditions whereby olefinic bonds are reduced and, when components of the reaction mixture contain aromatic unsaturation, to effect selective hydrogenation of olefinic bonds, without substantial, if any, hydrogenation of aromatic unsaturation; said process comprising contacting such hydrocarbon materials under hydrogenation reaction conditions of temperature and pressure in the presence of bis(1,5-cyclooctadiene) nickel as the hydrogenation catalyst.

  • Patent number: 3956419
Abstract: Organic reinforcing fillers for silicone rubber are prepared by the anionic initiated slurry polymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene in the presence of a block polymer dispersant, using, as the anionic initiator, an alkali metal-bearing compound and terminating the polymerization by reaction of the polymer particles with a terminating agent that provides in the polymer groups reactive with silicones rubber in a normal rubber cure.
