Patent number: 11819852Abstract: A reagent preparation assembly includes a body and a reaction chamber adjacent the body, the reaction chamber includes a reagent therein, such as a lyophilized reagent. An access port extends into the reaction chamber, and the access port is configured to receive an instrument. A seal extends across a portion of the reaction chamber and the access port. A reconstitution assembly is movably coupled with the body. The reconstitution assembly includes a plunger, a syringe and a piston. The plunger is movably coupled with the body. The syringe is selectively engaged with the plunger. The syringe includes a solution reservoir containing a solution, and movement of the syringe pierces the seal. The piston is selectively engaged with the plunger, and the piston is movably coupled within the syringe. Movement of the piston pushes the solution into the reaction chamber.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2020Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Biolyph, LLCInventors: Timothy E. Pearcy, James G. Skakoon

Publication number: 20230032917Abstract: A topical applicator of the propel/repel type includes a reservoir, an attachable applicator cap, and a metered dosing system. The reservoir is suitable for mixing a topical formulation of multiple constituents using an electronic mortar and pestle and is closed using the applicator cap. Alternatively, the reservoir may be prefilled with a ready-to-use cream and medicament formulation, then sealed with a removable seal. The topical applicator can also include a one-way ratcheting feature to prevent reverse movement (repel) of the metered dosing system. Metered doses can be dispensed through holes in the applicator cap by rotating a knob, which has detent positions that correspond to discrete doses, and which provides audible and tactile feedback.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2022Publication date: February 2, 2023Inventors: James G. Skakoon, Kevin S. Fuller, Chris Reber

Publication number: 20220218968Abstract: A topical applicator of the propel/repel type includes an expandable reservoir with a port, an attachable applicator tip, and a metered dosing system. The reservoir can be a cylindrical housing with a movable elevator movable by a drive mechanism that is initially not engaged to allow filling of a flowable compound through the port, moving the elevator. An actuator, such as a rotating ring or pushbutton may engage the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism can include a one-way ratcheting feature. Metered doses can be dispensed through a hole or holes in the applicator tip by rotating a dosing knob or pushing a pushbutton causing the drive mechanism to advance the elevator. The drive mechanism and the action to dispense metered doses can be combined into a single motion. The drive mechanism can include detent positions that correspond to discrete doses, and can also provide audible and tactile feedback.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2020Publication date: July 14, 2022Inventors: James G. SKAKOON, Gary W. THOMPSON

The reservoir is suitable for mixing a topical formulation of multiple constituents using an electronic mortar and pestle and is closed using the applicator cap. Alternatively, the reservoir may be prefilled with a ready-to-use cream and medicament formulation, then sealed with a removable seal. The topical applicator can include a fast purge feature that overrides the metered dosing system to facilitate removal of air from the reservoir. The topical applicator can also include a one-way ratcheting feature to prevent reverse movement (repel) of the metered dosing system. Metered doses can be dispensed through holes in the applicator cap by rotating a knob, which has detent positions that correspond to discrete doses, and which provides audible and tactile feedback.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2021Publication date: December 16, 2021Inventors: James G. Skakoon, Nicholas R. Rich, Timothy Etter

Patent number: 9889442Abstract: A reagent preparation and dispensing device includes a body having a reaction chamber for a reagent and a solution reservoir for a solution. The solution reservoir is isolated from the reaction chamber. A plunger is movably coupled with the body. Movement of the plunger from a starting position to a seated position pushes the solution into the reaction chamber. A dispensing path extends from the reaction chamber out of the body. The dispensing path is configured to dispense a reagent mixture formed from the solution and the reagent. A vent path extends from the reaction chamber, the vent path vents reaction chamber gas displaced by the addition of the solution to the reaction chamber throughout movement of the plunger from the starting position to the seated position.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2014Date of Patent: February 13, 2018Assignee: BIOLYPH, L.L.C.Inventors: Timothy Pearcy, James G.
