  • Publication number: 20090201676
Abstract: A light fixture useful in the lighting of parking garages, including a base, a reflector element and at least one light-emitting lamp. The reflector element includes a reflector portion that extends vertical from the base to a distal edge that extends beyond the lamp. The extending reflector portions include a plurality of planer panels positioned in a plane at an angle that faces toward the lamp. A portion of the emitted light is reflected by the extending reflector portion in the opposed horizontal direction away from the fixture at a reflected angle from nadir that is greater than the emitted angle. The light fixture provides a uniform lighting pattern that allows for using fewer of the light fixtures, by projecting or reflecting emitted light horizontally at very high angles from nadir, and delivering more light to areas laterally remote from the fixture, and potentially using less energy.

  • Publication number: 20090161367
Abstract: A reflector for a luminaire comprising a plurality of reflective panels retained in a three-dimensional concave reflector shape. The reflector shape defines a first opening for a light source and a second opening for emitting light in a predetermined distribution pattern. Each of the reflective panels has an inwardly-facing smooth reflective surface between the light source opening and the light emitting opening. The light emitting opening plane is perpendicular to nadir. The reflective panels are curved inward in the direction of nadir adjacent to the light emitting opening to produce a secondary reflective surface for a portion of light from the light source.

  • Patent number: 7445363
Abstract: A self-standing reflector, and method of making same, comprising a main reflector formed from at least one sheet of reflective material, and at least one reflective insert joined to the main reflector. The main reflector is typically formed by folding a plurality of flat panels along fold lines pre-formed in the sheet into abutting relationship to define a predetermined three-dimensional reflector shape. The reflective insert can have a plurality of facets formed into its reflective surface and is joined to the interior surface of the folded main reflector, and has a reflecting surface disposed inboard from the interior reflective surface of the main reflector. The main reflector and the reflective inserts have a reflectance of at least 95% (Miro 4). The fold-up reflector with its reflective inserts directs reflected light to a predetermined area to provide improved area lighting with less light scatter and improved efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7128446
Abstract: A luminaire for providing increased illumination and efficiency comprising a plurality of reflectors, lamps and electrically connected lamp sockets arranged such that the light reflected off of a reflector is reflected at a generally uniform angle and does not reflect off of any other reflector or lamp surface. The luminaire results in an increased light distribution pattern and greater operational efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6464378
Abstract: A luminaire reflector formed from at least one sheet of reflective material is folded and curved by hand to form a self-standing reflector having a predetermined three-dimensional reflector shape. Each sheet of reflective material includes integral panels that are joined to adjacent panels through fold lines that allow the panels to be folded by hand. The panels have free edges that are folded and/or curved into abutting relationship. The panels include locking members and positioning tabs formed adjacent the free edges to retain the reflector in a predetermined three-dimensional reflector shape. Methods of making a self-standing reflector for a luminaire are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6422720
Abstract: A retrofit luminaire assembly for mounting in an existing canopy fixture housing and methods of installing same. The retrofit luminaire assembly includes a planar panel having electrical control elements mounted to an upper surface of the panel. A lamp is received in a lamp socket mounted to the panel with a light-emitting section of the lamp extending away from a lower surface of the panel. A lens is mounted to the lower surface of the panel for enclosing the light-emitting section of the lamp. The panel preferably has a pair of oppositely directed pivot members which are adapted to engage with inwardly directed flanges of the canopy fixture housing to removably and pivotally support the panel for movement between a vertical, inoperative position and a horizontal, operative position. Flange extension members are provided to engage the inwardly directed flanges of the fixture housing to reduce the size of the opening for larger fixture housings to a desired common size opening.
