  • Publication number: 20230134031
Abstract: A method for controlled purging of a blood pump and a blood pump assembly for implementing the method are provided. The blood pump is in fluid communication with a purging device. The purging device comprises a purge reservoir and a supplemental reservoir configured to be fluidically connected to the blood pump. The purge reservoir is configured to receive a purge fluid and the supplemental reservoir configured to receive a supplemental purge fluid. At least a portion of the blood pump is inserted into a patient and operated. A flow of the purge fluid is provided from the purge reservoir to the blood pump. A purge flow parameter at the blood pump is measured using a measuring device and when it is determined by a controller that the purge flow parameter meets a predetermined threshold, a remediation protocol is identified.

  • Publication number: 20170199698
Abstract: Data is stored on a storage device, such as one or multiple hard disk drives, in accordance with intra-storage device data tiering. Data to be written to the storage device is received. Whether the data is hot data or cold data is determined. In response to determining that the data is hot data, the data is written to a fastest region of the storage device. In response to determining that the data is cold data, the data is written to a region of the storage device other than the fastest region. The intra-storage device data tiering moves data between the fastest region of the storage device and the region of the storage device other than the fastest region, as opposed to copying data between the fastest region and the region other than the fastest region in a caching-type manner.

  • Publication number: 20130031208
Abstract: Various implementations for managing and providing interactive content are described. One example implementation includes a system having one or more processors, a communication unit, a content management engine, an interactivity module, and a reporting module. The communication unit sends and receives data over a network. The content management engine transmits a first instance of an interactive content dataset via the communication unit to a first client device of a first user for presentation. The interactivity module receives event data describing an interaction with the interactive content dataset from the first client device via the communication unit. The reporting module generates a report describing the interaction by the first user with the interactive content dataset and transmits the report via the communication unit to one or more of the first client device and a second client device of a second user for presentation.

  • Patent number: 8274861
Abstract: An underwater wireless network can include plurality of nodes, each node having a cylindrical housing, a repeater, a transducer and a buoy. The housing defines a void and encloses the repeater. The transducer can be tethered to the housing and a buoy can be tethered to said transducer. Each node also includes at least two hemi-cylindrical flukes that can be pivotably attached to the housing. The housing can further be formed with at least two flood ports, and corresponding plugs are inserted into a respective fill port. Lanyards interconnect each flukes with a respective plug. During transport, the flukes can surround the transducer and the void is empty, which renders the node neutrally buoyant for ease of transport. For deployment, the flukes are pivoted away from each other to tighten the lanyards, which pull the plugs out of the flood ports, to further flood the void and deploy the node.

  • Patent number: 6684743
Abstract: A gear drive system for a printer designed to print upon a continuous roll of paper and having a blade used to cut off printed portions of paper from the paper roll is implemented. The gear drive system consists of a drive shaft 330, a slip clutch 401, a clutch gear 116, a drive gear 110, and a staggered gear 112 which controls the paper cutter blade 106. During printing, clutch 401 allows the drive shaft 330 shaft to slip relative to the clutch gear 116. When printing stops, clutch 401 locks clutch gear 116 which is engaged with the first portion of staggered gear 112 and causes staggered gear 112 to rotate until the second portion of staggered gear 112 engages the drive gear 110. Staggered gear 112 is then driven by the drive gear 110. A cutter blade is controlled by staggered gear 112, with the blade cutting off the paper as the drive gear 110 is in reverse rotation.

  • Patent number: 6654068
Abstract: A computer display includes a pivotally mounted upper housing having a display screen, a brake used to retard pivoting motion of this upper housing, and a release mechanism for releasing the brake so that the upper housing can be freely moved. The display screen is preferably a touchscreen, which is touched to indicate a selection made by the user, with the brake resisting a tilting movement of the screen as it is touched. In a first version, two brakes are used to retard motion in both directions, with a single release wheel being turned in one direction to allow rearward motion of the upper housing and in another direction to allow forward motion of the upper housing. In a second version, a single brake is released by stopping motion of a release mandrel to unwrap a clutch spring.

  • Patent number: 6398360
Abstract: A thermal printing station includes a split rotary platen, which is driven in rotation to move a paper web across a thermal print head held against the split rotary platen. The split rotary platen includes a motor-driven shaft, a main platen roll driven by the shaft, and a platen roll extension, which is slidable along the shaft between a first position, in which the platen roll extension is engaged with to turn with the main platen roll, and a second position, in which the platen roll extension is disengaged from the main platen roll, being allowed to remain stationary due to friction forces arising from contact with the thermal print head. The first position is used for printing on a wide paper web, while the second position is used for printing on a narrow paper web, which extends only along the main platen roll. A clip is attached to the shaft to hold the platen roll extension in the first or second position.
