Patent number: 10952263Abstract: The disclosure concerns automatic pairing of a user's new device wirelessly with the user's private wireless access point. An open WLAN is used to connect a wireless pairing client (WPC) in the device with a pairing initiation server (PIS) in an ISP's network. If the open WLAN uses a “captive portal” to redirect HTTPS requests to a login page, a “pinhole” is provided so that HTTP requests addressed to the PIS are not redirected. The device stores the SSID of a suitable open WLAN and connects automatically when powered up. The WPC makes an HTTP request, including an ID for the device, to the PIS. The PIS uses the device ID to retrieve an IP address of the user's access point. The PIS then sends instruction to WPS Pairing Initiator Clients, the device and the access point to initiate a Wi-Fi Protected Setup PBC procedure.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2017Date of Patent: March 16, 2021Assignee: British Telecommunications Public Limited CompanyInventors: Simon Ringland, James Gardiner

Publication number: 20200276854Abstract: A method of producing a security device (60) is disclosed. The method comprises inkjet printing a liquid crystal material onto a first region (61) of a substrate and ink jet printing the same liquid crystal material onto a second region (62) of the substrate. The volume of the liquid crystal material printed per unit area of the substrate in the first region of the substrate is different to the volume of the liquid crystal material printed per unit area of the substrate in the second region of the substrate such that the wavelength of the peak reflectance of the liquid crystal material on the first region is different to the wavelength of the peak reflectance of the liquid crystal material on the second region.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 16, 2018Publication date: September 3, 2020Inventors: Damien James GARDINER, Duncan William John MCCALLIEN, Felicity Jane ROBERTS

Publication number: 20200206750Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for feeding a feed slurry into a device for separating low density particles from the feed slurry. The apparatus comprises a conduit having a slurry inlet, a gas feed inlet, a plurality of hollow tubes and an outlet. The hollow tubes are configured to combine the feed slurry from the slurry inlet and gas from the gas feed inlet. The hollow tubes comprise a porous section to generate bubbles of substantially uniform size into the slurry for adhering to the low density particles. Slurry flows in axially aligned hollow tubes as gas is introduced through the porous sections into the slurry. Alternatively, slurry flows around hollow tubes arranged perpendicular to the conduit longitudinal axis as gas is discharged through the porous sections into the slurry.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2018Publication date: July 2, 2020Inventors: Kevin Patrick Galvin, James Edward Dickinson, Taavi Orupold, Michael James Gardiner
