  • Publication number: 20070225408
Abstract: The present invention provides processes for the extrusion of a shapeable resin-containing composition as a foam, wherein said composition comprises at least one extrudable resin and at least one saccharide ester of Formula I: wherein “A” is independently hydrogen or has the structure of Structure I: wherein each “R” is independently an aliphatic or aromatic moiety of about 8 to about 40 carbon atoms, and wherein all of the “A” moieties of at least about 70 wt. % of the compounds of Formula I comprise moieties of Structure I. Also disclosed are foams produced by said processes.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20070048343
Abstract: This invention provides a novel biocidal premixture, particularly useful as a component in cellulose reinforced thermoplastic composites. The inventive biocidal premixture includes a combination of a biocidal agent, either a coupling agent, a lubricant, or both. The addition of such biocidal premixtures to cellulose reinforced thermoplastic composite materials offers improved resistance to attack by molds, fungus, algae, and the like, improved adhesion stability, greater moisture resistance and aging resistance, limited leaching, enhanced toughness moduli, and increased efficiency in such composites. Products using the inventive biocidal premixtures are useful in forming materials for exterior building applications such as decks, siding, roofing, windows, moldings, docks, wharfs and the like.

  • Publication number: 20060084729
Abstract: Composite compositions suitable for forming shaped articles which comprise thermoplastic polyolefin binder, cellulose, a solid state maleated polypropylene coupling agent, and a stearate lubricant. Shaped articles may be formed from these compositions by extrusion without undue adverse effects on the extrusion process or adversely affecting the production output. Additive packages for such composite compositions comprise the solid state maleated polypropylene coupling agent and stearate lubricant.
