  • Patent number: 10156116
Abstract: An apparatus for at least partially closing a throughbore is described. The apparatus comprises an apparatus housing, the apparatus housing defining a throughbore and a plurality of closure elements, each closure element being adapted to move between a retracted position, in which the throughbore is fully open, and a deployed position, in which the throughbore is at least partially closed, at least a portion of the movement of each closure element between the retracted position and the deployed position being rotational.

  • Patent number: 9932792
Abstract: A severance tool for severing a target is described. The severance tool comprises a housing, a plurality of focused energetics, each focused energetic adapted to release energy in a preferred direction and a trigger mechanism adapted to detonate the focused energetics. The focused energetics are aligned such that, on impact with a target comprising a material, the energy released by one of said focused energetics cooperates with the energy released by another of said focused energetics to establish a separating force within the target material.

  • Publication number: 20020079098
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining whether a tubing conveyed perforating (TCP) gun has fired by detecting a change in characteristics of the flow of an oil well. A method and apparatus detects the presence of fluorescent tracer dye to determine whether or not a TCP gun has fired. The method and apparatus detects a change is capacitance, or fiber optic electrical properties to determine whether or not a TCP gun has fired. The method and apparatus detects the number of charges fired to determine whether or not all TCP guns have fired and also provides a method and apparatus for determining the contributions of injection wells to producing wells by introducing fluorescent tracers into injection wells and detecting the presence of the fluorescent tracers at production wells. A method and apparatus is provided for placing fluorescent dye particles in a gravel pack to sense when a gravel pack is deteriorating by detecting the tracer dye particles in the well flow.
