Abstract: A method of altering the targeting and/or cellular uptake efficiency of an adeno-associated virus (AAV) viral vector having a capsid containing an AAV9 cell surface binding domain is described. The method involves modifying a clade F cell surface receptor which comprises a glycan having a terminal sialic acid residue and a penultimate ?-galactose residue. The modification may involve retargeting the vector by temporarily functionally ablate AAV9 binding in a subset of cells, thereby redirecting the vector to another subset of cells. Alternatively, the modification may involve increasing cellular update efficiency by treating the cells with a neuraminidase to expose cell surface ?-galactose. Also provided are compositions containing the AAV9 vector and a neuraminidase. Also provided is a method for purifying AAV9 using ?-galactose linked to solid support.

Abstract: A permanent magnet eddy current heat generator apparatus has a thermally insulated working fluid reservoir containing a working fluid and an enlongate stationary ferrous metal tube disposed in the reservoir with an elongate permanent magnet rotatably mounted inside the tube that, upon rotation, causes the tube to become heated due to the eddy current generated in the tube side wall and the heat from the tube side wall is transferred to the working fluid in the reservoir. An elongate working fluid heat pipe has a first end connected with a working fluid reservoir outlet and a second end connected with a reservoir inlet. The elongate permanent magnet is rotated by the shaft of a motor electrically and magnetically insulated from the working fluid and elongate permanent magnet.

Abstract: A chainless bicycle has a frame with a top bar, steering tube, front forks, front wheel, handlebar assembly, seat assembly, seat tube, and front downtube. The seat tube and front downtube extend angularly downwardly and are connected at their lower ends to a special crank hanger which pivotally supports a pedal gear box containing drive gears connected to the pedal arms. A pair of hollow support tubes connected to the pedal gear box extend rearwardly to a rear wheel gear box at each side of the rear wheel. A drive shaft is rotatably carried in each support tube and each has a bevel gear at the front end selectively engaged with the drive gears in the pedal gear box and a bevel gear at the rear end inside the rear wheel gear box. The hub of the rear wheel has a drive and braking mechanism which is connected to bevel gears at each side. The gears of the rear wheel hub are received in toothed engagement with the bevel gears in the rear wheel gear boxes.
