  • Patent number: 7044457
Abstract: A mount with replaceable load bearing and rebound members is provided. The mount comprises a housing that defines a first chamber and a second chamber; a load bearing member removably located in said first chamber, said load bearing member comprising a load bearing member contact portion; a rebound member removably located in said second chamber, said rebound member having a rebound member contact portion, the contact portions of the load bearing member and rebound member being in abutment when the members are removably located in the chambers; and means for coupling said load bearing member and rebound member.

  • Patent number: 6450474
Abstract: A mount for isolating a vibrating member from its support. In several embodiments an elastomeric element is made up of four components that are preferably bonded to the inclined outer surface of an inner member and the inclined inner surface of an outer member. One of the inner and outer members is bifurcated and drawing the two halves into mating engagement results in the elastomeric components being preloaded simultaneously in compression and shear. The elastomeric element is preferably formed with portions which snub movement in each of three orthogonal directions. The dimensions of the pair of elastomeric components above or below the vibrating member may be different than the other pair due to greater compression strain on one pair of components to maintain maximum design stress levels.

  • Patent number: 5237933
Abstract: An improved service-life, low-profile, elastomeric mounting for placement between the side-frame-pedestal-jaw roof and the axle-box or axle-bearing adapter crown on a three-piece, railroad-car truck. The mounting minimizes the damaging compression induced edge strains resulting from the cocking motions imposed on the elastomeric mounting during railroad car braking and rocking. The addition of shims, specialized elastomer contouring, graded thicknesses of the elastomeric layers in combination with high shape factor of the elastomeric layers allows the compression induced edge strains to be significantly reduced and results in extended service-life of the elastomeric mounting.

  • Patent number: 4844338
Abstract: A rail fastener having a rail support plate coated with electrical resistant elastomeric material to protect against electrical current leakage from the rail through the rail support plate is described. The only part of the support plate not coated with the electrical resistant elastomeric material are the serrations of the support plate. The coating of the support plate protects against current leakage from the rail to the support system.

  • Patent number: 4715533
Abstract: An upper rail supporting plate is interconnected by resilient material to a lower foundation plate for lateral and vertical movement. Lateral movement of the upper plate transverse to the rail direction is limited by reinforced upstanding flanges upon a first pair of edges of the lower plate. The reinforcement includes horizontal flanges projecting outwardly from the upper edges of the upstanding flanges. Additional flanges upon a second pair of lower plate edges contribute further reinforcement, and limit upper plate movement in the rail direction. Toothed washers mount the lower plate for lateral adjustive movement in preselected increments of differing magnitudes.

  • Patent number: 4530491
Abstract: Axial loads and motions upon a unitary body of elastomer of the mount effects compressive deflection and bi-direction bulging of a first ring-like portion of the body, and shear of deflection of a second, tubular portion of the body. The second portion of the body also imparts lateral stability to the mount. The mount can be economically manufactured and installed.
