  • Patent number: 6116880
Abstract: A spinner head provides for the production of melt-spun product. The spinner head includes a base and a cover spaced from the base. A plurality of discrete spaced apart elongate heating elements are positioned between the base and the cover and define a chamber for accommodating feedstock material therein. An elongate generally annular housing having plural circumferentially spaced cylindrical passages extending therethrough is positionable over the heating elements. The housing defines a plurality of circumferentially spaced fins projecting radially inward. Each of the fins have tapered sidewalls which generally converge as the fin extends radially inward. The sidewalls of adjacent fins cooperate to define longitudinal radially-directed slots between the cylindrical passages so as to permit passage of the feedstock material therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5834033
Abstract: A spinner head provides for the production of high fat content floss. The spinner head includes a base and a cover spaced from the base. A plurality of discrete spaced apart elongate heating elements are positioned between the base and the cover and define a chamber for accommodating feedstock material therein. The chamber is spun and the feedstock material is heated and is expelled through the spaces between the heating elements. Feedstock engagement surfaces are positioned in alignment with each of the spaces between the heating elements so as to engage the expelled feedstock to alter the direction of travel of the expelled product.

  • Patent number: 5824342
Abstract: Discrete entities of a solid suspension are made from a solid fat matrix and a non-fat solid substrate having an active associated with said substrate. These entities are spheroidal in shape, have uniform size and substantially the same active content due to the flash flow process used to make them. They are especially useful as delivery systems for comestibles, pharmaceuticals and personal products.

  • Patent number: 5458823
Abstract: A spinner head is used in combination with a machine for processing and spinning feedstock material. The spinner head includes a base and a cover spaced from the base. A plurality of discrete closely spaced elongate heating elements are positioned between the base and the cover forming a barrier through which the feedstock material may be processed. The heating elements may be individually heated to a temperature sufficient to process the feedstock material therein. The spinner head is rotated to expel the feedstock material through the spaces between the heating elements.

  • Patent number: 5397526
Abstract: Apparatus for reconfiguring at least three finishing rolls in a plastic sheet fabricating sheetline includes a base, a pair of spaced upright support structures, and pairs of first and second spaced support assemblies. The upright support structures are mounted on the base and support a center one of the rolls in a stationary position therebetween and for rotation about a first axis. The first support assemblies support a first outer one of the rolls therebetween for rotation about a second axis and are mounted to the support structures for permitting angularly adjustable movement of the first outer roll relative to the center roll about the first axis to reconfigure the angular position of the first outer roll relative to the center roll.

  • Patent number: 5347933
Abstract: The disclosed shoulder ballast cleaning machine with integrated hopper car is particularly designed to provide for the temporary conveyance and storage of clean ballast. The shoulder ballast cleaning machine digs up the stone ballast of the railroad bed, separates dirt and debris from the ballast, and replaces the cleaned ballast on the railroad bed. The hopper car provides the storage capacity to have ballast on board for deployment on the track bed when the quantity of ballast then being cleaned is inadequate to satisfy the need and to store excess cleaned ballast when the quantity of cleaned ballast exceeds the amount needed to be replaced on the track bed. The hopper car is interposed between the power car and the auxiliary car. A unique conveyor system conveys the fouled ballast from the power car where the ballast is dug up, past the hopper car, to the auxiliary car where the ballast and waste are separated.
