  • Patent number: 5147071
Abstract: A collapsible bag for use in containing and dispensing a liquid, such as in a bag-in-box arrangement, and a method for making the bag. Prior to sealing together two bag walls to form the bag, a one-piece spout and evacuation strip unit is attached to the outside surface of one bag wall and one or more openings are provided through the bag wall in liquid communication with a plurality of liquid channels in the strip. The two bag walls are then sealed together to form the bag and the evacuation strip provides liquid passageways for the liquid in the bag to flow to the spout to achieve complete withdrawal of the liquid from the bag as the bag collapses.

  • Patent number: 4452842
Abstract: A laminated lidding material suitable for use on cups of high density polyethylene and/or polypropylene comprises (1) as the bottom layer, a co-extruded layer of ethylene methyl acrylate and low density polyethylene resin, (2) a primer layer, preferably of polyurethane, (3) a layer of polyester, nylon, polypropylene or metallic foil, (4) a layer of low density polyethylene resin, and (5) a top layer of metallic foil, preferably aluminum foil. Lids prepared from this material can be adhered to the tops of high density polyethylene and/or polypropylene cups, and have sufficient strength so that they do not tear on removal.

  • Patent number: 4387126
Abstract: A laminated packaging material suitable for use in packaging products in pouch form, comprises (A) as an outer surface, a substrate of paper or film which may be printed and/or primed; (B) an adhesive layer, (C) a metallic foil, preferably aluminum, (D) an optional primer, (E) a barrier coextruded layer comprised of two or three-layer combinations of ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer and polyester, and (F) an optional polyolefin film layer. Pouches prepared from this packaging material provide a chemical barrier between the foil and the product contained therein and are especially useful where the foil needs to be protected from the product.
