  • Patent number: 6395978
Abstract: An infloor electrical outlet box selectively supports power and data/communication wires therein. The outlet box is positionable within the floor and includes a plurality of access ports for providing separate selective entry of power and data/communication wires into the box. A service divider is movably insertable into the box interior. The service divider provides for separation as between the power and data/communication wires. An activation member is positioned at the open upper end of the box for supporting power receptacles and data/communication receptacles for terminating the respective wires.

  • Patent number: 5950852
Abstract: A junction box cover for installing in an access port. The access port has an outer member with an inner surface and an upper surface, an inner member with an inside surface, a support surface, and a keyway. The junction box cover includes a ring and a junction box lid. The lid includes a first disc with a contact surface and a resting surface. The contact surface abuts the inner surface of the outer member and the resting surface is supported by the upper surface of the inner member when the cover is installed in the access port. The lid also includes a second disc that is integrally formed with the first disc and has an outer surface that abuts the inside surface of the inner annular member when the cover is installed in the access port. The lid further includes at least one extension integrally formed with the second disc and protruding therefrom for insertion through the keyway such that the cover non-threadably engages the access port.

  • Patent number: 5929383
Abstract: A grounding coupling sized for cooperation with a gland nut of a fitting to allow external grounding of such fitting via an external grounding conductor. The grounding coupling is configured for rotationally unrestrained cooperation with the gland nut when the gland nut is in an untightened condition with respect to the body of the fitting. The grounding coupling is further configured for rotationally restrained and electrically conductive cooperation with the gland nut when the gland nut is in a tightened condition with respect to the body of the fitting.

  • Patent number: 5831212
Abstract: An electrical junction box is positionable within a poured concrete floor. An upper extent of the junction box extends above the concrete floor and may be cut off so that the junction box becomes flush with the floor surface. The junction box includes a housing having a bottom surface and an upwardly extending side wall bounding the bottom surface. An anchor element is formed on the side wall adjacent the upper extent thereof. The anchor element defines a partially bounded exteriorally communicating region for accommodating therein the poured concrete so as to maintain the side wall in contact with the concrete floor, preventing inward deformation of the side wall.

  • Patent number: 5641940
Abstract: A poke-through electrical connector includes an elongate, generally tubular housing member and at least one retaining clip for securing the connector in an interfloor passage. The retaining clip includes a transverse flexure portion and at least one anchor point dimensioned and angled from the flexure portion for substantially radially-directed engagement with the wall of the interfloor passage. Displacement of the anchor point results in a compressive load which causes a bending moment to develop in the transverse flexure portion. The flexure results in application of a reactive retaining force by the anchor point.

  • Patent number: 5559307
Abstract: A twist-on electrical connector connects plural insulated electrical conductors. The connector may be manually twisted onto the conductors by an installer. The connector includes an outer insulative shell and an expandable spring held within the shell. The shell includes a pair of generally diametrically opposed wings which may be gripped by the installer to facilitate twisting of the connector onto the wires. The wings conform to the fingers of the installer to permit the easy gripping and twisting of the connector onto the conductors.

  • Patent number: 5557069
Abstract: A twist-on electrical connector connects plural conductors, preferably stripped ends of insulated conductors. The connector includes an outer insulative shell having a cavity open at one end. The cavity supports an expandable generally conical spring which accommodates the conductors. The shell includes plural ribs extending into the cavity for engagement with the spring upon radial expansion thereof. The ribs have tapered extents so that the ribs deform in both the radial and transverse direction upon expansion of the spring to control the rate of spring expansion.

  • Patent number: 5362922
Abstract: A plastic divider for providing a tunnel in the bottom portion of an electrical floor box having a box central portion with box cells extending outwardly therefrom. The divider is positioned in the box central portion and has sidewall frangible sections that are selectively removable to connect one or more cells with the space in the central portion of the box beneath the divider. The space in the central portion of the box beneath the divider is closed off from adjacent cells by sidewalls that have their frangible sections intact. A separate partition member is selectively attachable to the side of the divider having the sidewalls thereon for modifying the manner in which the cells communicate with one another and with the space beneath the divider.
