  • Publication number: 20250066554
Abstract: A composition for use in modifying the adhesion properties of silicone rubber compositions is described. The composition comprises alkoxy silanes, such as alkoxy silanes further comprising additional chemical functional groups such as epoxides, esters, and anhydrides; diffusion promoters that are completely or partially immiscible in the silicone rubber composition being modified; and compounds that can balance the hydride content of the silicone rubber compositions being modified. Modified curable silicone rubber compositions and methods of modifying the adhesive properties of silicone rubber compositions are also described. In particular, use of the presently disclosed compositions can provide modified silicone rubber compositions having selective adhesion for surfaces comprising thermoplastic and thermoset polymers as compared to metal surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20090130469
Abstract: A powder adhesive composition for bonding an elastomer to metals or other rigid substrates comprising a powdered film forming polymer having a liquefaction temperature above room temperature and is capable of forming rubber tearing bonds between an elastomer and a substrate. The adhesive composition is shelf stable and free flowing at room temperature to allow for ease of storage and electrostatic spray application, yet melts or flows at elevated temperatures to form a film on a coated substrate prior to elastomer bonding.

  • Publication number: 20070275172
Abstract: The present invention relates to coating compositions suitable for coating flexible substrates, such as the myriad molded elastomeric materials in pre-cured or post-cured condition. The coatings are applied to the entire exterior surface thereof. The coating compositions can be applied to shaped or molded articles such as those made from thermoplastic vulcanizates or thermosettable rubber. The coating compositions of the present invention are particularly suitable for coating cured rubber engine mounting devices which are comprised of vulcanized elastomeric parts that have been bonded to metal parts.

  • Publication number: 20070160797
Abstract: The present invention provides an ambient temperature curable fluoroelastomer coatings and coated articles to provide improved elongation, and adhesion to substrates especially flexible elastomeric substrates. The curable coating mixture is a mixture of two parts, part A containing a solution of a fluoroelastomer containing a specified acid number, and the other part B providing a curing component which is a mono-primary amine containing silane or condensate.
